Hey guys, first time Android handset user. With the Galaxy S phones and their amazing Super AMOLED screens video quality looks spectacular. I would love to watch video files (namely anime) on my phone. What do you all recommend as the best video converting software for Android phones or namely the Galaxy S phones?

Much appreciated
Zegapain.

Free: Handbrake
Paid: DVDFab

There are certainly a lot of other options, but those are the ones I find myself using the most.

If I just want to move videos from my computer to the phone, do I have to use VCast Mgr and convert them so they will play on my phone? Or can I just move them to the folder on the sd card? If so, which folder to I move them to?

They are videos that I watched on my Iphone. Hopefully I can just move them to the folder on the sd card.

Thanks

I'm almost positive it can play videos that can be viewed on an iPhone. You don't have to use VCast Manager to transfer videos - I just made a folder called "Videos" in the top level of the SD card and they showed up in the default video app. Unsure about downloaded apps, haven't messed with them yet.

What are you converting from and what do you want to convert to? The Fascinate plays a bunch of formats (either with the stock player or with players on the market)

I'm trying to convert mainly my anime files. Most of the time they are either in h.264 or .mkv file formats. Also, since they are subbed they contain subtitles. A lot of the time when I end up converting files like these the subtitles don't get transferred over. Anything I can do to fix that?

What are you using to convert? Handbrake allows even forces the subtitle if you want it to

You shouldn't have to convert, just put them on sdcard and play. I dropped a 720p mkv of Avatar on there and it played without issue, including subtitles.

OK, I'm really going to let my ignorance shine through here. I've tried a couple of different converters trying to go from WMV to something that will play in good quality on my Fascinate with no avail. I'm sure I'm missing something very simple, but regardless, I've come up empty handed.

I have both standard WMV files and the digital copy that comes with some blue ray disc these days. Am I missing something obvious?

Sorry, I don't do much in terms of conversion so I don't have an answer for you. However, this phone can play H.264/MKV directly.
