Thanks Steven58. I am a new Aria user and have noticed that there is not much activity in this thread. I hope more people will join in so we can discuss things.

Generally, the more popular the phone, the more popular the forum section. Some sections are red hot and hard to keep up with. I have the Droid X and the section is very hot. Sometimes, I wouldn't mind it if it cooled off! ;)

Seriously though, there are other sections to post questions and chat. You're not limited to here. There's the Android Lounge for misc android chat, there's the regular Lounge for talking about off topic stuff. Feel free to look around. I look forward to your posts. Whereas I can't be everywhere, the other guides and mods are. They're very helpful. :) :) WELCOME! :D

thank you I am awaiting delivery of my Aria and will likely have some questions

We look forward to them. You're welcome!

I think aria is a decent phone but, its still a hard pill to swallow..

I mean.. here is the problem.. your paying 15$ or 25$ a month extra to have it..

samsung captivate is max 200$...

And we can debate all day long about the price of an upgrade..

But, the fact is 200$ is a pretty small price to pay on a device you are in most ways stuck with for 2 years.

You can find places where aria gets cheaper the problem is as aria gets cheaper.. so does captivate..

A lot of places have aria as free and captivate as 70$... which.. well.. lets be real...

Aria is a great phone.. but, its a toss up between captivate and aria in a few ways.. I would lean towards aria because I would think htc would "keep up with it" more.. however, captivate has more power meaning it may be able to handle upgrades better later..

No one wants to be stuck in a year and 6 months with the android version of the iphone 3g.. Obsolete.. slower with an upgrade than without..

I mean when 3gs came out a lot of people kept getting 3g anyway just because it was cheaper.. well now a year later.. they are stuck with very dated... and showing its age hardware..

No one wants to be in that position and with the captivate.. there is at least the chance it will not show its age until they need a new upgrade..

With that said.. I wouldn't mind an aria if I could afford one with no contract atm.

This argument will never work for any technology. It you are constantly worried about buying something that will not be obsolete in a year then you will never buy anything.

Exactly ... my Eris is EOL and many people consider it "obsolete", but I still love it. We wont be getting the Android 2.2 update, but I am rooted so it doesnt matter. There are already multiple rom's with 2.2 for Eris ... if I ever want it I can have it. My dad has had an Aria for a couple month now and loves it. Its a great phone and is far snappier stock than my Eris was stock.

First post. I've been lurking for a couple of weeks. I'm eligible for an upgrade next week and the Aria is on top of the list.

My question is, why pay more for a phone and be stuck with it for 2 years when the GPS doesn't even work. If it did work, I would certainly consider the Captivate. But why pay for a phone that doesn't work when you can get one that works for free?

i've joined but haven't talked much.. still new to my aria... I like the phone for the most part.. the biggest thing i hate is how AT&T blocked 3rd party apps... I heard so much good about that swipe program... but I do love the speed and reliability :)

Welcome! Isn't there a workaround with root?

My point was for 70$ more you can get a phone that won't go obsolete nearly as fast.. assuming both keep getting upgrades.. captivate is gunna have more "umph" longer.
