State of Confusion (FL too)
At first glance this might sound like a DUMB question but it's a bit more complicated than the subject suggests. The question might not be dumb...but the poster (me!!) probably is!! :))

I know how to uninstall keyboards that show up in the apps list like Better Keyboard or Swype or SlideIT...you uninstall just like a regular app. The PROBLEM I have is this: I don't know WHERE I downloaded the keyboard (was a developer forum or a site like Good and EVO or Android Central or something) but someone had available the "Android Keyboard"...it is NOT the stock EVO keyboard but the keyboard that you might recognize from Android NON-EVO devices.

Anyway, downloaded and installed the apk file a while ago and don't want/need the keyboard installed any more. So I go to look for the app name "Android Keyboard" or something similar in my app list and can't find it! Swype is there, SlideIT is there...all ready for uninstalling...but can't find the Android keyboard app.

I got a felling the file had a name like com.something.somethingelse.apk but still find it ODD that I cannot find the app in my app list.

So, does anyone know the "old school" Android Keyboard I am talking about?? Does anyone know how to uninstall it from the list of input options??

THANKS!!!

Ok...I posted the above and did a little more research. I now know the name of the file that I installed: "LatinIME.apk" This is the "old school" non-EVO keyboard that I installed. It makes a keyboard called "Android Keyboard" available as a possible input choice.

So it is installed and available but I do NOT know how to uninstall. Can't seem to find it. From my cursory search on the web, it appears I might need ROOT access or some other fancy method to uninstall. It is NOT INTERFERING or conflicting with anything or any other keyboard on my phone. I can live without having to choose it an an input method. But was just wondering if there might be an easy way to uninstall the thing....??

Are you looking under the 'All' tab in the Manage Applications? I downloaded the same apk and I can clearly see 'Android keyboard' on the list and it can be uninstalled

You know, I saw that in my running apps and was a bit nervous because (1) I KNEW the apk file that I downloaded had a filename that was NOTHING as simple as "Android Keyboard" (even though that was the name of the input selection you could choose and (2) the version was "2.2" Doesn't make much sense typing this out and reasoning it out now but I was a bit nervous that the "Android Keyboard" you suggested (and that I CAN see) would have screwed up my HTC/TOUCH/EVO keyboard.

Well, I just went and held my breath and hit "uninstall"...NO MORE ANDROID KEYBOARD!!

Well, I TOLD ya that this question was pretty dumb...at least I was right about that!

THANKS!!
