So I have had my EVO for about 2 1/2 months and I absoulutely love it. My buddy I work with just came in with a Vibrant today and obviously the screen is beautiful, but the thing I noticed most was how quickly it downloaded apps from the market. I took 4 different apps all at about 1 to 1.5 mb and clicked the download buttons on the phones at the same time. I have to say I was blown away at how fast the Vibrant downloaded the apps. It was almost instantly, meanwhile my evo was still at only 25% download. Again, I love my EVO and wouldn't trade it for anything on the market right now, but it was insane at how fast this phone was. Anybody else see this?

yes, very much depends. T-mobile is not even a consideration where I'm at because the coverage is so bad. I use my Evo as a work phone too, so only Sprint and Verizon were considerations as carriers. A co-worker brought in a Fascinate and the screen looked nice, but not that much of a leap for me. The iphone4's screen on the other hand I have to admit I'm jealous of. Video and camera looks better on the Fascinate too.

But I was surprised how laggy the Fascinate was in the UI and also in DL speeds when compared to my Evo. This was even before I rooted.

Most likely has nothing to do with the processor. It most likey has to do with the fact that T-Mobile uses HSPA+

Although The Vibrant is NOT an HSPA+ device. The first HSPA+ device will be the G2 followed by the MyTouch HD.

Even though the Vibrant is NOT and official HSPA+ device, all current 3G phones on T-Mobiles lineup get a download boost when using the phone in an HSPA+ city.

It has been Shown that HSPA+ is faster than any 3G available, and guess what, even faster than Sprints 4G. Also available in more cities!

Good luck

Good point, I was thinking more about the installing than the downloading, which I imagine (I don't know) that it would have more of an impact.

I read that it was a true HSPA+ phone. but even if its not + its still HSPA which is, in my opinion, damned fast. Fast enough. good enough. BING!

Hey Ghost, no the Vibrant is not a true HSPA+ device. However, this does not mean it does not benefit from the HSPA+ network.

A Vibrant, or any current smartphone in T-Mobiles lineup, will get a dramatic speed boost when the phone is used in a HSPA+ city.

So regardless of the Vibrant being true HSPA+ or not, embrace and enjoy the HSPA+ technology, becasue the Vibrant benefits regardless!

Plus, who needs HSPA+ on a 4inch cell phone, current speeds up to 7 megabits per second are plenty!
