Root Bugless Beast on Motorola Droid Running 2.2

I jumped the gun and installed Android 2.2 as soon as it became available: however, now that Bugless Beast Froyo is out I want to install it. The problem is, I can't get my phone running 2.2 rooted to install it with Rom Manager. I've tried using Androot which I thought would be able to run it (is 1.6 beta I believe) and I keep getting "root failed-fuguu" when I try to root it. Is there a way to root it or to install bugless beast without rooting the phone?

I just did it last night. I used root-droid-1-regardless-os-version to do it. I had a hiccup or 2, but that was all because of user error. Follow the directions, read through it and it should finish up pretty quick.

Yes, regarless of OS has proven to be a simple path to root for 2.2 (even FRG22D).

I'll give it a try. I run Ubuntu so I do need to find a way to install sbf_flash to it so I can do it

OPTICALDELUSION: New sbf_flash features

Get sbf_flash there. Works way better than RSD Lite and has more options.

copy it to a directory. change to that directory. chmod 755 sbf_flash to make executable. type ./sbf_flash to run it.

Ok, so I've followed the instructions and whenever I try to "start" the mc1 file in RSD Lite (I switched over to Windows 7) the process fails and says "Failed flashing process. Unable to retrieve initalization values from the INI file (0x7029); phone connected" After selecting the file it will say that the platform is not designed for the CDMA-Type-OMAP_Chipset before i try and start it. Any ideas?

which version of rsd lite are you using?

Side note....Errors like this are the reason I like sbf_flash so much more than rsd lite
