I recently upgraded to drakaz gaosp 2.1 public beta 2.I am using revovery 6.3.before upgrading I took d nandroid backup of d stock 1.5 firmware.today I accidently deleted everything on my sdcard and hence also lost stock firmware backup.I did not copy it on anyother place too so it is now completly lost.

I want to get back d stock firmware incase I need it or want to switch to it in future if anything goes wrong

almost all of u here must hav taken a nandroid backup of ur stock firmware before rooting or flashing with custom roms.

so I request u all to plz upload d copy of d backup on any file sharing site or dropbox(I hav a acc, will provide username anf password) or mail me as an attachment

preferbally i7500 model and not i7500l.
I am frm india and I had baseband as II3,

SO PLZ FRNDS HELP ME.CONTACT ME AT slhoka@yahoo.co.in
It would be generous of u if any one helps.thx in advance.

Hey, someone else's nandroid backup won't help you (it will contain all his contacts and stuff).

Why don't you just download a new stock firmware and flash it with Odin? (enough tutorials on this forum, and you can find good firmwares on Infect's site)

I kno dat. for that u can restore d firmware on ur galaxy factory reset it dat way contacts and other stuff will be deleted now take a fresh backup in new slot and return bac to old settings and data with d old backup slot

now u hav 2 firmware slots.one with ur data and other fresh one without any data of u.so u can send dat one .in this way u don't part with ur contacts etc.

help me.if u can.

Well, I still fail to see why you want a clean nandroid backup instead of just flashing your firmware.

Because I've experienced trouble doing a nandroid restore over a different firmware version (I have JC6 + GAOSP latest nightly), so I think you wouldn't be helped with a 'wiped nandroid backup' from my phone.

Hi,

I never bothered with nandroid backup until I started experimenting with GAOSP nightlies.

My phone was delivered with
CSC: I7500VIAIG6
PDA: I7500XXIG8
PHONE: I7500XXIG8

That's a 1.5 ROM.

However, since 1.6 official roms started to circulate, I've never looked back :)

So don't be afraid, just flash a more recent rom with Odin and enjoy.

slhoka,

do yourself a favour and just flash some new firmware with Odin. Or don't you have a computer at all, nor anyone of your friends?

EDIT: btw, no I don't have any 1.5 roms at the moment but I could download them if I wanted. 1.6 is better though.

If you had the guts to move to GAOSP, why are you so hesitant to odin the stock firmware? It really isn't that big a deal as you're making it out to be.

As dryhte mentioned, it's normally NOT a good idea to use someone else's nandroid backup (never used it myself though). And the way you describe things, all you want is to put the phone back to the way it was when you bought it, right? Well I'm from India too (Kerala, in fact) and if you odin with the II3 firmware it should put the phone back to 'showroom' state. At least, I haven't met anyone in this country who bought the phone with a ROM other than II3 (it's android 1.5).

Now, if all you want is an official Samsung ROM with camera+mass storage, I recommend you get one of the JBx ROMs (JB2 or JB6). That will push you to Android 1.6 with all the features you're asking for.

Please tell us, do you have access to a PC with an internet connection? Surely, it shouldn't be too much of a hassle for you to be able to download odin as well as a ROM (think both are <150MB total).

Not true. In the latest nightly of GAOSP (10092010) and the previous one the camera worked and in the latest the camcorder also works. There are also some effects included (not all yet, just a few remaining) and the next version is going to be (I presume) GAOSP BETA 3.

Lelouch, he mentioned that he tried public beta 2. Indeed, I'd also recommend trying a nightly first before giving up (I've been running the latest nightly for some time now; it's slowish but perfectly usable)

You must be new around here. Otherwise, you would know that I'm one of the leading advocates for the stable galaxo build + inFECT's theme. So, I'm afraid that I don't have II3 anymore. :(

But, I am just not understanding your obsession for a nandroid backup for II3. I mean, what's the point? Is there any difference between doing a nandroid backup (without contacts, apps .. etc) and just doing a clean wipe?

<searches the forums>

Ok, I'll grant you one point, it seems that I can't find the link to download firmware II3 here anymore. Still, you could get II5 or IH8 from here,
BOX23 /pub/7500/firmware/
(above link courtesy of inFECT)

Both II5 and IH8 were Android 1.5 too, if I remember right.

Seriously puzzled by your odd request,

Puzzled indeed.

He can do a backup of GAOSP public beta 2 if he's afraid of doing something wrong in the future. I do have a Nandroid backup of Sam*censored* stock ROM on SLOT 1 but it's firmware is I7500XXJB2. And yes I will never go back on stock ROM, just have it for despise to Sam*censored* to have a proof of theirs crappy ROM.

Now, I really don't like calling people names ... but ... You, Sir; are an odd one.

First, you go insisting about needing, (I think) an II3 nandroid backup (not the ROM too...) and now you're willing to settle for a JB2 backup ?!?

If this were a 1 time request, I would just think of you as some random stranger wanting to steal someone's personal info (contacts/calendar ... etc). But, your persist-ency makes me think otherwise.

Now to put things straight -

1. The nandroid backup has the potential to have the owner's personal info.
(This is one reason why people will be reluctant to give it to you)
2. It's a known fact that a nandroid created from the same phone WILL fail for different firmware versions (I'm referring to official Samsung releases - don't even think about the custom ROMs)

So, taking all that into account, it's a very VERY slim chance that another nandroid backup will work for you. Furthermore, you've stated that all you want to do is restore the phone back to factory settings. The regulars on this forum will tell you that the SAFEST way to do that is with a clean wipe using Odin. It just doesn't make sense to use nandroid for the purpose.

NOW, say you were a developer and were experimenting something. THEN, you *might* get better help. But, if that were the case, you shouldn't be asking the question here. I think Drakaz has a developer forum around elsewhere (never been there myself).

Like my fella chronodekar wrote it's a very VERY slim chance that it will work (I read somewhere that it wont work) on your firmware. So your only option(s) is(are):

1. some kind soul gives you his Nandroid backup (you lucky fella you :D )

2. you just use Odin for that yourself or someone with experience did it for you (nice :) )

3. or you try with another Nandroid backup with different firmware version and f***ed your phone yourself (yep, no one will be responsible for your blunder - bad for you :( )

So like chronodekar mentioned in points 1. and 2. it's a slim chance someone will give you his Nandroid backup, either they have it (firmware II3) but are new to the phone or don't cause they already are on some custom ROM's which are better then the stock ROM. But regarding your demand for a Nandroid backup on different firmware for you, no one is willing to give it to you knowing that you will f***ed up your phone (off course if they wish you good, if not...).

So take a deep breath and take y jump with Odin.
