Firstly, no I don't have a third party sms app such as handcent or chomp.

The last couple of days I have started getting this:

I get my normal sms tone which I set in the message app but i'm also getting a default notification for the duplicated notification.

I have just gone through the current running services and killed every thing it would let me kill and it is still there so I cannot work out what it is!

Please help

Well that should be a bit easier as you can turn off the notifications on the default message app.

Out of interest, when you do that, do you then get no notifications rather than 2 sets? In this scenario of getting duplicates I mean?

Odd that the icons are different too. Do you have anything else monitoring SMS, like a pop up something-or-other?

Just tried that and as I expected I now get only the one notification (the imposter) which gives me a notification sound not sms received sound. However before anyone suggests just making do with this, the message count is frequently out of sync and not knowing WHY would do my head in!

I have a lot of apps installed.. but the only app I can think of that has sms monitoring was 'sms popup' which I removed just to be sure. That wasn't it.

The notification I have isn't what you would expect from a non-sense android is it?

I don't know where else to look, none of the running tasks would suggest anything is wrong.
