Root connecting X to comp in PC mode and debugging

I have been trying everything for the past few days. I just cant seem to get a debugging connection though PC mode on my droid X to connect to the computer. I can in Mass storage, but when I click on Pc mode it turns it off. Im just trying to root right now and I have 2.2 and just lost root

try finding the motoconnect 1.1.31 drivers, that is what worked for me but I don't have a link

try these, just install them by opening ans pressing the setup.exe
this made me able to use pc mode again

I was able to get this to work by plugging in the DX to the PC using USB Mass Storage Mode. You will see a CD drive with Moto drivers on your PC. These drivers worked great for me. Then I enabled USB debugging and PC Mode. THis was the only way I could get it to work after I lost root with 2.3.13.

So i download the moto file and run set up, now it said that it detected but still does not show debugging for pc mode, when i plug it in it shows up on the computer with "Droid X Auto play with options for sync digital media files to this device... open device to view files... and import pictures. On the droid x itself it dosent show the debugging notification, unless i use mass storage mode

If you're using Windows 7 try these instructions. I couldn't get it to work until I did this. FWIW I had to set my phone to "charge only" mode when I plugged into USB too.

the thing about these new drivers is that they work with 2.2 even on pc mode

I was in the exact same situation. I tried to go ahead with it, but I could not detect and devices. I unistalled the drivers from my PC, rebooted and installed the drivers right off the phone (see above) and it works great. The USB debugger shows up in PC Mode and the device is detected.
