So now with the Htc Desire HD will Htc drop all support for Android uodates and everyone will be stuck with 2.2 and will never see 3.0?
I don't know just yet, but I'll post here as soon as I get back from my next board meeting at HTC.So now with the Htc Desire HD will Htc drop all support for Android uodates and everyone will be stuck with 2.2 and will never see 3.0?
From HTC yes probably, but XDA and other communities will push 3.0 via custom ROM much like they're doing with the Desire and Nexus One right now, those are the two best phones out right now considering Android customization.
It only seems to be smartphones where this line of thinking comes into play. Nobody expects a free version of Windows of OS X when the latest version comes out - so I'm unsure where we all get our psyche on this one (and I'm just as bad!!)
I find this thread very interesting, when did keeping old phones suddenly become important.
I always remember changeing my phone every year to 18 months just to keep up with the latest and greatest. But now people want to hang on to their old tech. i don't understand.
Personally i don't care if the desire does not get beyond Froyo cause i'm due to be changeing my handset in another 6 months so my beloved Desire will go in the bin and i will get the next phone that i will soon fall in love with.
This doesn't make sense to me either, seems the life span of phones in the past couple years is just barely 6 months, that goes for RIM and Motorola especially but everyone else are slowly catching on. My two Motorolas are already put off by Motorola because I'm not American, Motorola doesn't give a damn about non American consumers.I find this thread very interesting, when did keeping old phones suddenly become important.

And danfrance, Telus up here in Canada has ALOT of unhappy contracted customers, they push us to sign with them and then we're getting dick all after signing for 3 years (while everyone else has 2 years max) and Telus reps/L&R treats you like shit but when you're a month-by-month customer it's a whole different story.

Don't know about updates, but the HTC top dog in Sweden announced that HTC will not update sense to existing customers, only people with the new handsets.
Sucks if you ask me, will piss of many happy customers.
