Red Card Rampage

Hey guys,
One of the Flash world's most popular games, Soccer-Balls, with 10 million views in just 2 months, is now available on Android as 'Red Card Rampage' and it looks gorgeous, especially on the high-end phones. Its a physics-based puzzler similar to Angry Birds, except with a unique twist in the gameplay. The game is about taking revenge on the damn referees for making stupid decisions all the time. It really isn't about Soccer/Football; it's just a fun physics puzzler.

Thanks but the surprising thing is that the game got 10 times more downloads in one day on the iPhone than Android. So weird.
The app store within itunes is fantastic for finding new games. I used to go in there and see 4-5 useful categories for browsing new apps. They'd have something...
"What's hot now"
"What we're playing"
"Brand new"
"Up and coming"

Etc etc. The Android market does NOTHING to expose new apps to users. There's just the "new" category. And usually they're all crap.

However, this game is GREAT and I really like it :) I wish there were more ways to complete the levels though. Seems like there is always a set way to complete it. Still good fun!

I totally agree that the Market makes it tough for users to find new fun games like Red Card Rampage. So a new fantastic game might take awhile to be recognized,...unfortunately. :(

I totally agree too that Red Card Rampage is GREAT! I hope others download it to see how much fun it is so that we'll see more future Android games from these developers!

I tried this game out and it was definitely fun and challenging. I did notice that the reload button on the bottom right of screen didn't really do anything. I kept pressing it and nothing really happened. I also agree with jim2point0 that I would like to see more ways to complete a task. I would also like to see that line that shows the balls path taken away. While it's helpful it makes the game some what easy. Other than that it is a really enjoyable game.

The android market definitely needs a face lift. I hate seeing good games like this get lost in the woods but I think once your game is established (if it ever does) people will come back looking for more games. I know I will be keeping an eye on Rovio to see what else they release since Angry Birds is so addicting. I believe its time for quality games like Angry Birds and your own to start taking over the market. Android followers have longed for quality titles. Keep up the good work.

I'm glad you guys liked it! I agree with jim2point0. Getting exposure on Android is proving to be really difficult. They really need to improve the Market such that games that are rated highly by users get exposure. Experiences like this one makes developers like me not want to invest the time to make their game for Android in future; Google really should try to do something about it.

@Mostly Harmless. Thanks for the feedback! Which Android phone are you using? Nexus? The button-not-working has 2 possible reasons that I can think of: 1) The button-press detection is a little off; i.e., you have to press ur finger a little to the top-left of the reload button. 2) Maybe you're trying to press it when the level ends; at that point a menu shows up which has the focus (I should dim out the back or something).

One of the difficulties with coding for Android is that one has to cater to so many resolutions and aspect ratios, so it becomes difficult to test. Mostly Harmless, please verify for me exactly which issue it is, or if it is something else altogether. I can then try to fix it.

Thanks a lot!

Well we really appreciate your efforts, as this game is one of the best I've played on Android. I wish Android didn't have the fragmentation issues, but I refuse to switch. The phones are just too nice and the screen sizes are much better for games. 3.5" on the iPhone is so small.

We have the market share... and I'm sure google has heard the complaints about their market. We can only hope there is a big update to the market with Gingerbread (3.0).

I'd gladly pay more money for good games being ported to android to try and make up for the lack of exposure the apps get. I'm sure other users like me really appreciate quality.

Thanks rushmore! That is a good question btw. On iPhone, if you add an exit button, you get rejected. Same thing on Bada. Speaking of which, I just released my game on the Samsung App Store; check it out this video on the Samsung Wave, which is identical to how it would look on any 800x480 Android phone: YouTube - Red Card Rampage for Samsung Wave.

Now, on Android, I've had a lot of requests for an exit button. Is there no good way of exiting apps on Android? I can very easily add an exit button for Android-only, if other apps do it too. Do many other apps also have an exit button?

Btw, #1 on GameSpot! Please continue to review there if you like the game!
