Buyer for Evo

Hey all, I am currently in the process of selling my Evo. I have a buyer who wants the phone but says I need to go to a Sprint store with him to transfer. Is this really necessary? He said something about a good ESN or something. I don't want to have to go into a sprint store if I really don't have to. Thanks

Yes, because people can steal a phone and try to sell it. The ESN is blacklisted and the phone worthless...

This person has likely been burned before and is being careful.

Basically...

1. You arrive at the store together
2. You show the phone/esn to a sprint rep.
3. They'll verify it's good.
4. He'll pay you.
5. You give him the phone
6. You leave.
7. He activates

Huh? I just got an EVO off CL a few days ago and he posted the ESN was clean. I activated at home on Sprint's website. No dealing with people involved.

You don't have to go to a Sprint store. Just meet up, call Sprint customer service and verify the ESN is clean. Done.

You trusted and came out alright. Many others haven't been so lucky!

If your phone gets stolen and you report it to Sprint. The ESN is immeditately blacklisted. Then the thief sells it to some trusting person on CL. Buyer tries to activate it and finds out they just spent $xxx.xx on a stolen phone and has no recourse other than to feel stupid for trusting!

This can happen to any phone. I had an LG Fusic that somehow got reported as stolen even though it had not left my possession. When my brother got muggedand they took his phone, I tried to give him my old Fusic. When he called to activate, they told him it had been reported as stolen. When I tried to call ac/dc remedy the situation by explaining that it never left my possession (even verifying that I was who I said I was), Sprint said there was nothing they could do since it had already been reported, even if it was their error, it couldn't be undone.

That's messed up dude... I think this is where GSM phones have a bit of an advantage.

werid cause once you report it found they can unblock it in the system I've done it before for customers
