Root CDMA Rooting?

I have the same question. I just bought the HTC Desire from Cellular South a regional carrier in the Southeast. I understand GSM dominates but soon hopefully CDMA phones will get some love. I come from a PPC background and was lucky to find a CDMA ppc site. I just upgraded from my Mighty Rom Diamond to a stock unrooted Desire. I am very excited for things to come. Is there anyone I can work with to dump my phone and try and create a shipped RUU? Thanks everyone for such a cool community.

the test unrevoked 3.21 is for gsm and cdma devices
its in RC phase at the moment but if you are interested then hope along to their website and follow the link to get the Release candidate

be warned: while it seems to be pretty successful there is ltd support for it as its RC and not alot of people are risking it.

Yeah lol I'm Cell South too. So far this is by far the best phone I've ever had and I've only had it a day.

Hell of an upgrade from my Crapberry 8330.

I have a USCC Desire, used the unrevoked from the IRC almost 2 weeks ago. No issues at all. No support really for custom ROMs yet (well there are a couple out there but none that are 100% working) but at least I was able to remove some of the bloatware from my carrier.

Hey I'm on SSCC as well. I'm waiting for Unrevoked to release official version, but in the mean time can you direct me to a guide on how to root my phone using it.

Also, can we get Froyo on it, once it's rooted. Can we use and official RUU thats out there on our phones?

The guide can be found on the unrevoked page found here. I used Linux to root so I cannot really help you if you are using Windows. There are custom Froyo ROMs like this one out there but it is not 100% working yet so I have not bothered. When I had my Touch Pro 2, two of my favorite ROM chefs where Mighty Mike and Mr X from PPCgeeks.com. They are currently working together now to release Desire ROMs so I am holding out for them. They do amazing work to get the most out of our ROMs without adding a bunch of unneeded bloat. As far as using RUUs from other devices, I would advice against it but I am new to Android so I could be wrong, but on Windows Mobile this would not work.

Also, while I was looking for the link, I noticed that Unrevoked 3 is now official and ready to download!
