Keep in mind this is breaking your sprint contract. They can disconnect you if they want to.
Yo what is it with you and the contract thing.Every time someone post this kind of question you always have the same answer, what r you like a lawyer in desperate need for customers?

Let people be,at this point they should be well aware of that.Besides theres no way for Sprint to know ,if they did half of this forum be looking for a different carrier.

ya people say the same with jailbreaking and getting free apps on the iphone obviosuly it breaks contract but even if the did know why would they ever want to cancel my contract

Exactly, if they cancel then I don't have to pay the early cancellation fee, I have a very new EVO that I can ebay, since the phone will be clear. Not to mention they don't get my 150.00 a month ever again!! Lose lose but not for me!

Except when you have to goto Verizon or AT&T and pay a higher monthly service cost and if you choose AT&T you get the privilege of buying your data in 2GB chunks (have fun tethering with that).

You better go get your eyes checked, you seem to be near sighted...;)

If they were well aware of that, then they would be well aware of how to get wireless tether when rooted.

So by your logic, it would be a correct deduction that the OP does not know the consequences of using wireless tether when rooted if they don't know how to get wireless tether.

There is nothing wrong with posting the possible negative aspects of using wireless tether when rooted. At least then the OP can make an informed decision.

It doesn't break the contract, it voids the warranty.

Sprint's terms of service says:

In addition to the rules for using all of our other Services, unless we identify the Service or Device you have selected as specifically intended for that purpose (for example, wireless routers, Data Link, etc.), you can't use our data Services: (1) with server devices or host computer applications, or other systems that drive continuous heavy traffic or data sessions; (2) as a substitute or backup for private lines or frame relay connections; or (3) for any other unintended use as we determine in our sole discretion. We reserve the right to limit, suspend or constrain any heavy, continuous data usage that adversely impacts our network performance or hinders access to our network. If your Services include web or data access, you also can't use your Device as a modem for computers or other equipment, unless we identify the Service or Device you have selected as specifically intended for that purpose (for example, with "phone as modem" plans, Sprint Mobile Broadband card plans, wireless router plans, etc.).

Except with Phone-as-Modem plans, you may not use a phone (including a Bluetooth phone) as a modem in connection with a computer, PDA, or similar device. We reserve the right to deny or terminate service without notice for any misuse or any use that adversely affects network performance.

NO ROOT REQUIRED! I have found a way to get it for free! You simply go into
settings>wireless and networks>Mobile Networks>Acess Point Names
then press menu>Add new APN
Fill information out as the following (Case Sensitive)

Name: Wi-Fi

APN: wap.cingular

Proxy: wireless.cingular.com

Port: 80

Uname: WAP@CINGULAR.COM

Pw:CINGULAR1

MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0

MCC: 310

MNC: 410

Now when your done with that you press your menu button again and "Save" then you will go back you will see that MEdia Net has the green Dot, you need to click on "Wi-Fi" the one you just created. After that just go back to your home screen, Reset your phone and now Wifi Hotspot works for free!
*Thanks Button!*

There is not "access point names" showing on my Evo menu under the mobile networks option ?

also, what do you mean "reset your phone" - is that power down/power up ? something else ?

what if Cingular isn't in our area ?

Wll cingular is just the username and password it isn't in an "area" and I dont know were to find Acess Point Names...You just car going to need to search around because i dont ecxactly know Acess Point Names are usally called APN's So look around for that and when i mean reseting your phone it is a power off, batter out, put back in and power up.
Tell me if you find the APN!

Maybe I am not getting what you are saying, but to me, this sounds like war driving.
