The phone subforums I visit are usually really serious and on-topic.

i have two savannahs and a bengal. i love my kitties so much! i also have two mini schnauzers and two chihuahuas. i love them so much too! mexican food, oh my! im not sure if i can come up with a specific favorite dish.


what is this android root phone you speak of though, this intrigues me. is it anything like the root alcohol i had in central america that had me thinking i was center stage at woodstock '69.

No one here is going to mind helping you to root your phone but, the guys at xda forums (not knocking anyone here) are probably better for asking high level programming or hardcore questions involving getting root.

However, pretty much every forum I visit has a lounge which "eats up space"
in part because, it is nice to have idle chitchat with people you have stuff in common with. Kinda good for the team spirit type junk.

If there is a forum where there isn't a lounge.. good chance I won't go there besides for business.

I'm not a big fan of cats but I do own an awesome fox terrier. No rodents in this yard!! Ahhhhh...but I digress. Back to phones...

I did try and root my phone. After I dug it up from under the newly planted shrub on the side yard it was rather wet and muddy. Too much sprinkling possibly?? Anyway I wiped it down but it was still a little wet so I cranked up the ol' Jenn Aire oven to 450F or so. I knew water boils at 212F so hey let's do it fast right??!!

Unfortunately for me I was just sitting down to some nice super-spicy Mexican - and hey - you know what happens after eating super-spicy food right?? After an hour of sweating it out on the porcelain throne I was thinking...

"Oh CRAP!! (no pun intended) ....my Droid!" I run into the kitchen and this thick black smoke was just POURING from the oven. So now I'm like totally screwed!

Maybe he was right and I never should have rooted my phone in the first place!!!

On a serious note will this be covered under my warranty??

Warranty claims are filed under the basis that the defect is from the factory or something you could legitimately place blame on them.

Unless a VZW rep made you eat Mexican food and then put the phone in the over and THEN make you take a shit while it was still in there, you're boned.

A VZW rep came over to help you root your phone? One rep asked what Droid Eris I had, the one by HTC or Motorola after I told her "I have a Droid Eris." They aren't too bright.

Just for the record...

Forums attract all sorts of people from all walks of life and all levels of knowledge. Anyone who complains about a specific aspect of a forum needs to take a step back and think about how all of this works. If the social aspect was not available then many of the phone enthusiasts that are so helpful to others may not be here. Many people come here to interact with others of a similar interest and to gain knowledge while also helping others if they can.

To put it simply:

No social = Less knowledge
Less knowledge = Less help
Less help = Fewer members
Fewer members = Less interest
Less interest = Dead forum
Dead forum = Nobody getting anything

You can call people "idiots with nothing to do", but if it wasn't for said "idiots" then you would have no questions answered, because these "idiots" hold all the knowledge.
