nevermind question just got answered while i was posting

I swear Rom Manager hates me. I tell it to backup current Rom, phone restarts and hangs at LG screen. Ok screw it I don't need a backup I'll just load a rom from scratch if I need to, so I tell Rom Manager to reboot into recovery so I can just flash this, again hangs at LG screen. Had these same sort of issues when I was originally flashing Velocity 0.2. What am I doing wrong?

I don't use rom manger or the clockwork recovery but have you tried re-flashing the clockwork recovery?

Yeah I did that process again, it says flashed successfully, everything still hangs. Saw someone in another thread got around this problem by pressing Call, End, and Menu to boot directly into recovery. I tried that, and again, Frozen LG screen. Thanks for trying to help though.

Ok no biggie it was cool having it gone with Velocity but not like I reboot multiple times a day.

Last noob question, can anyone tell me what I should select in SetCPU. I have never used this app before today.

At the first time starting setCPU scroll down to the option "Auto detect Speeds"
It'll request root. Give it access. Then select okay.

Now you'll be at the main screen The fist slider is the max set that to what you want. You should leave min to 245. Then change Scailing to "ondemand"

If you reboot your phone you will have to reapply the overclock settings.

Thank you I just wasn't sure about that first screen with the three options. Working now. When cranked up all that way the phone restarted, I'm guessing that's the kernel panic that people talk about? Leaving it at 748 for now. Got 8.229 Mflops when maxed though.

Thanks for the help dots.

Drellisdee, I hardly have enough to pay my bills right now but I will make a donation when I can.

I'm assuming that's a kernel panic or that the phone just overheats. Either way that happened to me before when maxed at 787mhz.

Truly remarkable work. Made a well-deserved donation. Cheers.

EDIT:
Oh, sorry, here's the stats:
Before the update (using stock ROM I removed a bunch of crap from) I leveled off around 4.0 MFLOPS.
After the update (I chose not to overclock) I'm leveling off around 6.9. Brilliant.

before this kernel, running stock or even after the newest Velocity ROM loaded, i was over 1000ms (might have been several thousand) on setCPU's Short bench and typically around 7000ms on the Long Bench

i just loaded this over the Velocity ROM and now my Short Bench is like 436ms and Long Bench was 1225ms

with just loading this kernel over the Velocity ROM everything is much faster, not a placebo.....i hit gmail and a second later its open and waiting, same with most other apps, Dolphin HD browser now opens in like two seconds instead of 5......much improved experience

thanks so much, i will donate something end of this week for you, thanks

Forgot to check mflops prior to new kernel.
With kernel, 6.627 on a 12.65 second test.
WHere can I find a free version of set cpu, even if its a demo or limited... I can only find the paid one in the market....?
Also, Is it safe to overclock??? like will it make my phone start smoking and blow up eventually like in the next 2 years?
