Root Whos gonna root the OTA 2.2?

So which of our glorious people here will attempt to root the OTA 2.2 using the D2 method for us and tell us how it worked out?
Any takers?

Im not even considering flashing it at this point. I don't want to do anything that could screw up this possible unlocked bootloader thing. Until the bootloader unlock happens or is determined to be bs I dont wanna flash anything that could block it.

Yeah, that's one thing that has been on my mind about the update. But Birdman said he already has Root for the OTA, so maybe he knows if it is safe or not to update.

Do you think the OTA will change anything with the progress being made (or not made if its bs) on the bootloader being unlocked? I hadn't even considered that. I figured worse cause I could always flash sbf again to get back to 2.1 then put on the 2.2 that I have (2.3.9) and be right back to where I am now...

A few points

1) They have said it's possible to downgrade the bootloader (as long as Motorola didn't fix that)

2) Since the exploit has been made public I think it would have been too late for them to have patched it.

and 3) I forget what 3 was going to be.

yeah I guess if I can always flash back to 2.1 and get myself back to where I am now (which is a whole lot easier now with appbrain) I may give it a try rooting it with the D2 method tomorrow if I'm not too busy at work. Guess I should get all my files in order now for reflashing, rooting, theming and deodexing and all that fun stuff lol.

Yes, you can definitely SBF back to 2.1, but that does not downgrade the bootloader!

OHHHHH I see what your saying... flashing back to 2.1 doesnt bring my updated bootloader back to where it is now which would possibly leave me out of the whole locked/unlocked bootloader thing. THAT makes more sense now. I got it... I think lol

Im sure if birdman makes a prerooted rom he will take out any updates to the bootloader.

If its possible to unlock the bootloader the way thats being talked about its also very possible that motorola threw a patch for the bootloader together in this update.

I have seen a few people say that but I have yet to see any instructions or even an idea of how this is done.

Who says? As of now the sbf doesn't downgrade the boot loader

Hopefully

Why not wait for word from those in the know. Why risk it?
