Hi, I am about to upgrade from the Droid to the Droid X, and I want to know if you guys can answer some questions for me.

1) Are you happy with the DX?
2) How is Google Maps on the DX? On my Droid, it works perfectly. I get instant GPS lock and directions are great? Is it the same with DX?
3) How is the screen responsiveness to touch? Is there any lag?
4) Are there any apps for the DX that may not be available for the Droid? I know they both run 2.2, but just asking.
5) Also, can i use PDANET or other tethering app on this?

Thanks in advance

1) Are you happy with the DX?

Yes, very

2) How is Google Maps on the DX? On my Droid, it works perfectly. I get instant GPS lock and directions are great? Is it the same with DX?

Flawless every time I've used it

3) How is the screen responsiveness to touch? Is there any lag?

I've encountered some lag using swype when I'm just flying but other than that, none that I recall

4) Are there any apps for the DX that may not be available for the Droid? I know they both run 2.2, but just asking.

//Edit:
5) Also, can i use PDANET or other tethering app on this?

There was a thread on PDANet awhile back:
http://androidforums.com/droid-x-support-troubleshooting/126127-pdanet-droid-x.html

There are alternative ways to tether after rooting or via bluetooth that I've seen as well.
//End Edit

I'm sure there are but I never had the D1 so I really couldn't tell you

Everyone that I know that upgraded from the D1 to the DX is extremely happy. That's a total of three people, so a rather small sample...but it's something :)

1. nope...hate it. worst phone ever
2. so small...can't see crap
3. I feel like I am having to punch the screen everytime i want to make a selection.
4. Yup. There is this one app that guys LOVE. It takes yours pants off and....(removed for the children)
5. Once you share the speeds, you will want to disconnect your T1 line. It makes it look like dial up.

On a more serious note....The opposite of all that pretty much! It is an amazing phone that you will love. If you are attached to your physical keyboard you will need to adapt to that (my wife uses her keyboard about 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% of the time). You can use PDANet. But once rooted you can wirelessly tether it. As for apps...I don't think so. They just look better and respond better. Expect a little less battery life due to the bigger screen though.
