I am nearing close to 50 apps and notice a little more lag and load time on some things.
Is there a way to clean things up like disk cleanup, etc?
I only have around 30 pictures, now that is little green circle takes awhile to load all things.

I've only had it a week, so lots of the freebie apps will likely be deleted after fun time is over, but I am also starting to buy a few of the ones I will use, like Picsay Pro.

I wiped the cache from the market (through applications management), but it still has all the searches I've had!

You also need to clear the cache from other apps and it will speed up.

Browser is a big one.
There are quite a few.

I have over 150 apps and it is time consuming but I am learning what apps have cache and what ones dont.
I just cleared my browser cache and wow my phone is so much faster and responsive. I had something like 14.9mb to clear from it.

Clear data is not wanted, right?

I wouldnt.

From what I can understand that is where your password/login stuff might be stored. If you clear that you will have to log back into everything.

It also holds other "user data" but not sure what.

Here is my before and after on a G1 rooted.

Before Cache Clear
SD Card
total 4.99GB
Aval. 4.42GB

Sec SD card
total 2.38GB
Aval. 2.13GB (this is where my apps are stored instead of phone)

Internal Space
43.61MB

Apps I cleared and amount space cleared.
Browser 8.30 MB
Cestos 44 KB
Gmail 284 KB
Market 1.6 MB

Afte Clear Chache
SD Card
total 4.99GB
Aval. 4.42GB

Sec SD card
total 2.38GB
Aval. 2.13GB (this is where my apps are stored instead of phone)

Internal Space
54.63MB

That is 11.02MB of more space, by just clearing 4 apps.

That is alot of space on limited space devices.

There's an app called cache cleaner for rooted users, but no love for stock users from what I have found....what the heck is memory for lemmings?

I would take the time to go trough all your apps and write down the apps that need cleared.

The more you clear the less you have to use the list.

but how do i know what apps need to be cleared? i've never done this (noob, sorry). is there just 2-5 that usually should be cleaned that you've noticed? i've heard the browser is one, but are there any others you can recommend? or, if i go down the list and look at them, how do i know if they need to be cleared? thanks!

When you look at the apps in the list they'll show you how much cache each on is currently using. Take note of the ones with larger amounts (or ANY amount) and you'll begin to learn which ones are using space on your phone. The cache amounts on each phone will be different due to different usage patterns between you and me. So what *I* have to clear may be different than what you have to clear.

I find that any apps that use an internet connection will usually store cache, such as, the browser, market, some games, some mail apps, etc. The photo gallery, camera and people apps will also store cache on a regular basis. Another biggie is the Facebook update page, whoa what a whopper! I do clear the data for com.htc.socialnetwork.account under manage apps. Clearing the data clears all the buildup of events and updates from Facebook. When you sync Facebook the next time, off to the races again....buildup starts anew! Just check that once in a while as a part of your maintenance routine for your Eris. Acts like a whole new phone :)

I use Cache Mate, and Advanced Task Killer. My phone is still somewhat laggish, but that's to be expected from a 528 Mhz phone, and I'm overclocked to 768 mhz. From what the net says, Cache Mate clears all application cache with one click, I don't know how true that is, I don't take the time to look at every app after I run it, but it seems to do the job for me and it's a free download from the market. Just have to be rooted.
