Root I'm sorry I'm such a noob but...

I've been on the fence forever with rooting my x. Been lurking your forum for awhile now among others...reading up. Just scared i'll mess my phone up and have to buy another. I'm sure you deal with people like me daily...i'm sorry.

Anyways...I'm going to wait for the official 2.2 to come out, then worry about rooting.

My question is.... If I would use androot and koush's backup, and only used trustworthy roms that people post on forums like this, with positive feedback...do i really have to worry about bricking my phone?

You should be able to root after getting the OTA Froyo tomorrow by employing the Droid 2 method.

To answer your question. NO. Don't worry about bricking your phone as long as you follow all the directions. Plus if you ever do get stuck at the motorola M just sbf it back to stock and you're golden. It is so easy to do now days.

Thats good to know. I just need to grow a pair and do it. Some people maybe spoiled or rich and be able to spend more for another, so I take what I read with a grain of salt.

there are a couple of horror stories out there. but just make sure that you have your battery to at least 70%.
if your phone dies on you while youre flashing the. sbf youll run into problems. but even if that happens theres still a few ways around that.

i was in your shoes. id be so paranoid to do things but AF is real helpful. especially bot. (d13)

yeah dude. so as long as you read everything before doing anything you should be fine.
