Root Boot loader watch.....2.2 ota has 30.03

its not at the moment no... when i flashed back it when through like normal then stopped on the screen gave me an error message and wont do anything from this point... if i do a battery pull it boots right back into the screen without hitting power or anything.

Yep, same problem here too. I tried to flash back to the 2.1 but I don't think its going to do anything.

If you try to flash back off the official 2.2, you will brick the X and cannot recover at this time. The new, official Froyo build has a new "key," hence the new Bootloader. So, if you try to load a different OS on the phone other than what Moto gives you, you brick the device because it is not signed.

I am NOT applying the official OTA until I figure out what Team Black Hat, CVPCS and company are announcing.

Moto jumped the gun on this to screw the mod community, it seems.

Moto did not jump any gun here. They are actually late releasing this update! Things are expected to change with a firmware update (like the bootloader).

Unfortunately for the ones stuck at a bootscreen after trying to SBF 2.1 (after the 2.2 ota), you may have to wait for a 2.2 SBF - which hopefully won't take long.

Moto isn't late releasing anything. They used the update to patch the exploits used to get around the bootloader (Bootstrapper, etc). Moto has said they do not support people modding the phone.

You can update the bootloader and still flash ROMs. Moto updated the bootloader to look for a specific signature/encryption key on a ROM.

Logically, they did this to make sure the phone was locked down again. I can't see any reason to re-sign the bootloader. They could have updated it and not changed what they sign their releases with.

So Question:

I rooted 2.1 Never installed the 2.2 leaked version that came out.

I recently used the Droid X boostrapper recovery app thing to put all of the old applications back on that I deleted in root.

Can I update to 2.2? Or do I have to wait for Birdman's fix?

i personally will be waiting for the waters to calm.....but if you want to install update you very well can if you want to
