For the purposes of safety, if you currently have your phone rooted, it would be best to unroot your phone before pushing the update forward. I have been reading around and hearing about occasional failures updating, and while there could be many reasons behind it, it seems somewhat likely that having the phone rooted may be the culprit. As a precaution, I unrooted my phone anyhow and the update pushed through fine without incident.
If you used RyanZA's app to root the phone, unrooting is a simple click of a button. Just update to the most recent version of the app on the app store and reverse the root. I'm not sure, but it is probably even possible to use RyanZA's app to unroot the phone, even if you didn't use the app to root it.
As a sidebar, a lot of people have panicked and may be taking the batteries out and rebooting the phone in a hasty reaction to what may seem like a "frozen" phone during update. I can assure you and confirm that the long "pause" at the 50% mark of the update is normal and may take more than a few minutes to move on. Also seeing a blank, incomplete, or seeing missing icons from, the homescreen right after rebooting is completely normal and everything will begin to show up after a little bit of time. Just make sure you are patient with the update, let it cache and finish all it needs to finish, a make sure you don't panic or assume it froze, and most importantly, avoid the urge to yank the battery from to unit before giving it a really long time finish up (I'd say at the very least give it ten minutes to be extra safe).
