Where are all the good Podcast Apps?

i'm really surprised and disappointed by the lack of podcast apps out there, especially for videos.

i don't want to pay for Doggcatcher, but all the free ones are very poor apparently and don't do a good job. I use Google Listen for my audio podcasts, and even tho it isn't great it is does the business.

However i can't view any video podcasts with ease or without having to download them first.

Does anyone know of any at all? or of any that are in development?

I, like you, found the free podcasting apps extremely lacking. I even tried out a beta app that seemed more full featured, but had some weird bugs with it. The developer, to his credit, was extremely responsive, but the app was still really buggy at the end of the day. I bought doggcatcher and consider it well worth the money IMO just because I've not found another app free or paid that does what it does.

I do my podcatching on the linux workstation and sync to the /sdcard on the phone. Not fancy, but free and it works.

You could do the same thing on any workstation. Personally, I like having it download podcasts right to the phone and not screw with a middle step. Doggcatcher automatically downloads my podcasts to my phone and no intervention is needed on my part. I just pick up the phone and they're there.

Right, but I think it's easier on a workstation that is script- and scheduling friendly.

Doesn't work for me; I want to listen to all the podcasts I have now before I sync up the next batch. Listen then sync meets my needs. Not to mention I don't have a data plan.

Different horses for different courses, as they say.

I'm using BeyondPod free and I haven't found anything not to like about it yet. It streams or downloads video podcasts.
