Turns out that people would rather flame me for what I had posted than actually help me figure this out.

To keep things short and simple,

I have had a lot of hardware issues with my incredible. I don't know whether or not it's just my device but I haven't had a good experience with it.

Android seems buggy and doesn't seem to be nearly as mature as the iOS. I still have some hope for Android, especially with the new HTC sense and Android 3.0 on the way.

I am considering an iPhone once it comes to Verizon because I feel that Apple's hardware is extremely solid and well built. Their iOS also seems more polished than android.

I DO like android and I DO like the specs on the incredible, I just wish the software was better and I wish the hardware wasn't so cheap.

Hopefully everyone can stop flaming me and we can actually discuss this.

I've had my Incredible since June.... and I haven't had any need for a extended battery... I use the 1800's and have 2 if needed...

I have had all sorts of issues with my Incredible. However, it is still an amazing device. My buddy has an iPhone and tries to tell me that his phone is so much better and I just laugh. He couldn't even connect to his home wifi until I fixed it for him because of a glitch on his phone.

If you like the iPhone... go for it. It is an excellent device. IMHO, Android is still better and will continue to move forward with better and better devices while every few years iPhone will come up with a device meant to catch up to Android instead of the other way around now.

I assume you are rooted and yet still have these problems, which means to me you probably need to talk root with someone who can help you with a few of these issues with rooted solutions.

Have you rooted? Mine had absolutely no hiccups or slow downs. I am sorry you had to go thru what you did. Battery life is very disappointing.

I agree with some of what you said. The case is cheap plastic quality, the battery life could be better although I have the stock battery and easily get through a day with much to spare. Mine has auto rebooted 3 times that I am aware of since I received it April 28th but my biggest gripe is the intermitant poor phone call quality. But having said that, I still think it is a remarkable technoligical device and I really, really like it. So as the previous poster said "to each their own". You are certainly entitled to your opinion and wish you the best with whatever device you use.

What do you want to debate? You come to an Android Forum where many people here loathe Apple so that you can bash Android/Verizon/Incredible? Not a good place to start a debate, seems like you want to start a fight...

I for one can't debate this with you. Apple is 100% out of the question for me. Period. Ever.

I don't experience any of the problems that you are having, nor do many of the people here. Well... I do have the bloatware issue, but I did my research and rooted the phone. Bloatware gone, problem solved.

And if you are not willing to accept that you may have just got a bad phone and get it replaced, there is nothing to talk about anyway. I am sure the phone doesn't reboot so often that you can't get a call in to Verizon. And I also doubt that you live so far away from Verizon that you can't get there for some support.

Clearly you do not want actual help with your problems, you're not willing to even attempt to get it fixed. So if you wanna jump ship and get the iPhone, go for it. Verizon will have it available for you in 4-5 months.

I am just thankful I won't be on the Apple forums after you have the iPhone and you start realizing just how many problems it has.

Go to a pay phone. You should be able to call the 800 number without paying. OR do you not have a friend who has a Verizon phone you can dial *611 on that phone. It is airtime free I believe.

The "I can't call" line is a load of bunk.

I have a similar problem guys! My computer keeps on crashing because it's telling me to install updated drivers or dll files for my hardware and software. Windows we are through! I'm buying a mac! ..... mac a roni and cheese! =)

I love my Incredible. That said, when I available my upgrade (which I normally do yearly) I am getting a new phone.

I have had my share of issues with the phone. I've had strange call quality issues, randomly and with full bars. The internal storage has been handled improperly, making it almost completely worthless unless you're using stock apps for anything on it. The battery is absolutely terrible.

I have, however, had a lot of fun with my device. The HTC "stickers" on the back are still in place on my phone. The phone may not be made of steel and riveted together, but it feels very solid. The screen looks great. The phone IS fast. I've never had any force closes, strings of random reboots, or slowdowns.

Unless HTC can step their game up for a phone that isn't a Nexus One or G2, then I'll be jumping ship from HTC and picking up the best that Samsung or someone else has to offer (just as long as that someone else isn't Motorola).

the device and OS do not seem to please you. There is no debate here. I have an incredible since launch and its been fine. I have had a few random reboots and poor battery life but beyond that the phone is great. I personally like a plastic phone as it tends to be more durable.

I'm also not going to diss Apple because they make good products but for me it comes down to the OS, and IMO android is much more flexible and useful. Others may like iOS because it "simple"

On a few keynotes, why would you blame the Android market for poor apps? Its YOU who installed it, if you picked the nice apps, they don't crash or have poor usability. You also mentioned, Apple store to be much better since Apple censors a lot of them, do you also want them to peal the apple skin for you when you eat an apple?

I mean come on, you're an adult, you can tell the difference of good/bad apps, and it is YOUR decision to decide if it's on your phone or not, NOT Google. Google gives you choices to pick from, from great to bad apps, it's open sourced, Apple meanwhile, does things for you, like treating you as kids, make decisions for you, no flash etc.

Stick with Apple if you want someone to make decisions for you, or go to Android to make your OWN choices.

I do like android. I'm starting to develop for it. I wish other developers would focus on app quality though.

It's not just the unknown apps that crash though. I've had problems with ones such as Facebook, The Weather Channel, Twitter, Doodle Jump, etc. These apps are near flawless on iOS.

I by no means am an apple fan, mainly because I can't stand their arrogant figurehead Steve Jobs. He's a control freak and it leaks down through all their overpriced products. Apple's biggest strength in the past has been their advertising. (Apple copied Creative's mp3 player to get the ipod, but they advertised it better and made a killing. Creative had a video mp3 player when the first gen ipods came out. It is why Apple got sued and happily paid up.. they advertise well and create a loyal following).

That being said, we probably wouldn't have Android right now if it were not for Apple and the Iphone (well, I guess if it weren't for Creative and their first mp3 player to be more exact). Anyways, anyone who came from a windows mobile phone, a crackberry, etc. can tell you how bad smart phones have been in the past. They could barely do business functions and were painfully slow and crashed all the time. The Iphone changed the industry, and spurned competition bringing us android.

Now, it becomes a personal choice as to which path to go, but I do want to highlight one of your statements. You mentioned that you could always jailbreak the iphone (if it comes to verizon and you get it). With rooting the Incredible being so easy, and the unroot method also being very simple to put it back to stock, I would suggest you at least try it. The new 2.2 OS brought all sorts of problems for me, mainly with the bloatware. I rooted simply to get that bloatware off, which has made my phone run MUCH smoother and has taken away most of my problems. I'm running a 1500maH battery and can get through a full day with moderate use. I have seen where the new roms and custom kernals are extending battery life and running even smoother. I'm personally going to go down that path as soon as the roms and kernels get a little more stable / more polished.

The whole concept of the Android OS is being an "open source" operating system that you can do more with. That is how Google intended it. And quite frankly, HTC has shown they are perfectly fine with that. (The Nexus One had a one button option to run custom roms/root or to run the stock image). The problem is that the Service Providers want to charge for everything they possibly can to make every penny they can. And ALL of the carriers do this. Look at the functionality that AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile have either stripped out or found a way to lock unless you pay for the services that Google intended to be free. Sadly enough, the only way to truly use the operating system the way the designers at Google intended is to root it and take control of what you do or do not want. HTC has shown they have no problem with it, but they are not about to upset the providers as that would cost them money. And don't think it is just Verizon, ALL of the major providers are doing this. So I would advise you to at least consider looking around the "all things root" forum. There are a LOT of very smart developers in there that have been extremely helpful to me in rooting my phone and removing all the crapware/bloatware that was hanging up my phone. I truly believe that if you root, remove the bloatware, and run one of the newer roms and kernels you will see the true potential of android and might be pleasantly surprised.

^^ Just a quick note about this. I do not disagree with this, but part of the problem is that a lot of developers (even the larger ones) get lazy and just port the same app over from one operating system to another. An app developed for Android from the beginning will run much better than one ported over from the Iphone, although most major developers are very quick to rework their code to fix the flaws.

I hear you but as a former I-phone user it is really frustrating having all of the apps so buggy. I read reviews and it looks great but when I install it, far from great. I-phone did not have this problem for the most part. What is even more frustrating is that the apps that are on both phones are so much better on apple. I can't figure this one out for the life of me. It is really frustrating b/c I do enjoy the Android platform so much more.

I guess you did word it wrong, I've read it twice and it still sounds like this isnt the phone for you. There are rumors of a new HTC device this fall, the incredible HD, looks like the Incredible, the Evo and Nexus one did it. Droid Incredible HD for Verizon Wireless Coming Soon?
This would go a long way to addressing the cheapness factor, which I agree with you. Its the only thing I dislike about my Incredible. Plastic bugs me too. But if this device comes out, well look at it. Its definitely a high end device and it looks that way. All the other issues you've had like rebooting, bad apps from the market place.. I havent gone through that. I always read the reviews before I install. Froyo, made my device even more lovable. Like you I researched it way before it ever got released, so I knew I was going love it. I didnt love waiting 4 weeks for it but it was worth it. I bet they change the name to something else, but it would put the Incredible on par with the x,fascinate and the evo.

Um, ok. I am not quite sure why people come on here and post threads like this. Asking for suggestions to a problem you have is one thing, but posting a loooong discussion that clearly turned into an HTC sucks thread? The phone is an inanimate object and it will not miss you, feel free to speak directly to it while saying your farewell. If you are having problems and aren't getting a replacement device, well then I guess that's your error. Reach Verizon quickly? Unless they are at your beck and call it's unlikely, however if you won't even call or go to the store then why even bother telling us that your phone sucks? Don't get me wrong, I feel for your issue and understand some of your problems, but I just don't get why you want sympathy from folks because your phone "sucks", when you won't even take it in to get a replacement or see if they can help you. Nowhere in your post did you say what measures you have taken to correct your issues, so if you can give us a bit more info maybe we would have some suggestions.

Suggestions for you? Factory reset the phone. Don't install ANY apps. Leave the phone be for a day. Are all the problems fixed now? If so... start installing your apps back slowly. When you see problems arise, remove the app you downloaded.

Don't go app happy. You don't need all 100,000 apps that are on the market. Hell, even Apple is putting their foot down and said "we don't need anymore fart app's"

Stick with QUALITY apps. Check the reviews, see what people are saying. If the app has only has 2 stars and less than 10,000 downloads, it's a crap app.

If after a factory reset your problems still exist, you have a bad phone. REPLACE THE PHONE! Bad phones suck and are not common, but it does happen. It may have happened to you. If you have a 3500 mAh battery and can only get through 1/2 a day, something is very wrong. Either something you downloaded is eating away at the battery or you just have a bad phone.

Hell, you might even just have a bad battery. That is far more common. Where did you get the battery from? It is a quality battery from a reputable seller? After you do your factory reset I also recommend putting your stock battery back in for a couple of days to see how that does.

Don't give us anymore of this "I can't call... WAAA" or "I don't wanna drive there... WAAA" crap either. If the phone is bad, it's bad. Get it replaced. You are not going to tell me that you don't have a spare hour in your life to drive to Verizon and get it worked out. Or a spare 30 minutes of your life to make a call and have a replacement sent to you. And I REALLY doubt that your phone rebooted so often that you can't make a call to Verizon.

i will agree with your rant on battery issues... its horrible. if you want to compare it to the competitor, lets say the apple iphone, the battery life is absolutely amazing you get at least 2 days doing the same amount of work.
