I really do not have the attention span for games lol but I wish we had the option for those great games that are out for other phones. I know our market is on the fast track right now and have no real complaints vs the Apple Market that you have to pay for almost everything and no return policy in place. But it would be nice to have these games available to us. Like Need for speed and Tom Clansy H.A.W.K things like that?? I know we can get it on a web site which is better than nothing but why are these not going threw the Market ??

I sell things myself in a different online store marketplace, and many MANY people have their own stores.

When you only get a check for $500, and realize it could have been $800 (0r $1000) having your own store is very attractive. When I was selling in an alternate store, I found in many cases that I could keep a larger potential market, since I was selling less, but actually making almost the exact same amount of money on new items.

Gameloft has made an excellent name for itself, and people go there for the quality craftsmanship. Odds are they do quite well without the android store, since there is always so much chatter about thier games.

Look in any game thread asking about good 3dgames. All the top ones listed are always Gameloft's.

Just because it isn't in the "official market" does not mean it isn't selling like hotcakes.

Then there's people like me, that will boycott a company like Gameloft for not choosing the market and making things really hard on the user by not selling things also in the market. There are very few things I would buy outside of the android market in terms of apps. The only thing I have so far is Launcher Pro Plus, but that was more of a donation in my mind as I currently don't even use any of the widgets.

I'm sure Fruit Ninja is having pretty good success in the android market, and when Angry Birds comes out...? I bet you that Gameloft is losing potential money simply because there are many that won't buy from gameloft due to their policy.

Which is IMHO kinda foolish. Do you ONLY shop at one discount store? Do you buy gas from only ONE gas station? Do you buy groceries from only ONE store? Do you buy games written by only one company? Never heard of Steam?

Nope.. you shop around to get the best variety, and the best deal. Web shopping or mobile shopping should be exactly the same. A free market enterprise gives us the best value, and best variety.

From an author standpoint, there is a finite market who will purchase your items, and the best way to maximize your profits is to not split with someone else. Why do you think the android marketplace website deserves so much of the money for doing absolutely zero work?

Wouldn't you prefer that money went to the hard working people who wrote it instead? As long as I know I can backup any application I buy, I have zero issues at all from buying from anyone at all.

And what's one of the biggest complaints about the iphone marketplace? That apple controls what is available, and kills off items that some people want, but can no longer obtain.

Why not delete launcher pro as well then, since he also does does not sell in the marketplace? Isn't using that kind of two faced?

But hey, go ahead and boycott the best authors for our android phones so they stop writing games and applications for us. I'm sure when nothing is left but cheap garbage in the android marketplace that you'll be happy with your iphone.

Promoting piracy isn't something you should be doing on this forum. Doubly so when your victims are independents who spend weeks and months working on something with the hope that it might pay off, they aren't some gigantic company.

Who said anything about piracy besides you? I never mentioned one word about stealing software or Piracy. All in all it was you promoting it by mentioning it. By me saying you dont have to pay for it, even though it cost money is simply saying if it cost money and you dont want to spend the money then dont. Its that simple. No one said anything about stealing anything. ;)

The way you worded your post can easily be taken as advocating piracy.

For me I quickly lost interest once I handed over money to Gameloft and after some faffing around I downloaded a game which didn't work (despite saying on the website it would) Gameloft offered no support and simply said to download another game.
On the market I would have just uninstalled and requested a refund.

That's just one issue.

Another is ever having to reinstall all of these apps from various places. Assuming that not everyone is able or capable of backing up all of their apps what happens when the phone/SD dies?
I dread to think how much hassle it would be to try and remember all of the extra markets you bought them from. (last I heard Gameloft are quite unhelpful with this too)

and that's why i'm out.
