Root Stick with Leaked or SBF to get OTA?

Hey all,

So right now I'm running the 2.3.13 leaked version (haven't upgraded to the now public 2.3.15 yet) and have Tranquility with REVOlution R2 theme installed. I guess my question is this:

What's the benefit of going with the OTA upgrade vs. the leaked 2.3.15 (which I can easily upgrade to from the .13 build)??

Is it worth all the hassle at this point to even consider the OTA or should I just wait it out?

The other thing is I can't really tell what the difference between .13 and .15 are and if there's even any difference between the OTA and the leaked .15 build. I'm pretty content with my phone the way it is now, esp. with Tranq ROM and REVO R2 theme. I just wanted to get some opinions before I go spend another night toying with my phone. Is there even anyone here that paid for the leaked 2.3.15 and now has the OTA that may actually know if there's a (noticeable) difference between the leaked and the OTA.

In any case, cheers all!

IMHO, stay with what you have. i think there is just too much confusion right now with the upgraded bootloader and such. if you OTA, as of right now, you can't sbf back to 2.1 if something goes wrong. you can restore the system partition with a 2.2 sbf, but it just isnt quite the same. i dont think there is really enough of a reason to go to the OTA right now. if your phone is working properly, i would just wait it out for a week or two, and see what all comes out from the devs. I am on the leaked 2.3.15, and i am glad i stayed there.

Out of curiosity did you go with the 2.3.13 to .15 or the .9 to .15?

I'm pretty sure I should just be able to go from .13 to .15 by following the same directions, but maybe I shouldn't even worry about it and just stick with the .13 build revision until all this anger/confusion/frustration dust settles.

yeah i would definitely NOT take the OTA. from what ive read the leake .15 is virtually the same as the ota .15 minus the radio and bootloader updgrade.

given that there is currently no way to downgrade the bootloader and that birdman is close to cracking the previous one, you may loose the chance to ever get full custom roms and 2.2 overclock.

i went from .13 to .15. i just used a nandroid i found and did an advanced system restore. but honestly, i dont think it would be worth the trouble for you. unless there is some issue that is really bothering you that you think may be fixed by upgrading, just be patient and wait to see what comes out in the next couple weeks. my guess is that we'll see a cracked bootloader, custom roms, and a bunch of other great stuff. i would just hang tight.

Thank you both, that's been helpful and has confirmed what i was previously thinking after reading all the "the sky is falling" threads. :D

yeah, it's not as bad as it seems. and i am sure there will be some good stuff out for the OTA shortly, but there are just more options for those that stayed with the leak as of right now.

the main problem is, for those that bricked during the OTA update, they cant use the 2.1 sbf to start over. and those that didnt know that, are 100% screwed with nowhere to turn at the moment.
