Hey guys i understand a lot of you are busy trying to fix this mess that is the OTA. I for one want to thank all of you that have put in your personal time and hard work to do for this community the things you have done. I also understand you have told everyone that when you do this stuff with your phone there is a risk.

That being said what is the best way to go from 2.3.9 to 2.3.15 and stay rooted. I am currently running flyx on my phone as well that i love and i have a black status bar as well not sure if this makes a difference. Thank you for your help.

I am running FlyX as well and have been patiently waiting to see what move I want to make (if any). Right now, FlyX is running very stable.

If you want to go to the OTA 2.3.15, then you'll have to SBF to 2.1 and then install the OTA update. This will also give you the newest radio. If you can do without the newest radio and just want the 2.3.15 update, you can install P3's 2.3.15 leak, but I believe you have to go back to the initial leaked 2.2 first before installing it. Someone else can confirm for sure, but I'm still going to wait a while and see if there will be a way to go from FlyX directly to the OTA 2.2 once the modders release a modified version. Actually, FlyX with the newest 2.2 would be awesome, so I'm not sure that's something Birdman can do or not?

So I just spent ALL day fixing my phone after trying this! Ha!

I started with 2.3.9 w/ FlyX and NexTheme. Ran awesome! No problems! So I decided to try to update to something newer, just like we all like to do. I downloaded 2.3.15 and updated to it, wiping data and cache, and mounting system. Starts up fine! still has FlyX boot animation and Nextheme! Weird! But all works well, root and all. My next task was install the newest tranquility. This is where it all went to Shit!

I Lost Root. Gone. crap. But Oh! I can use the Droid 2 method! Man, it took me 4 hours to get adb running correctly! There are a thousand posts out there that all say to do a different thing to get adb!! First problem: what usb mode to put it in? I try PC mode... I change the unrecognized drivers in Device Manager. Nothing. The debug icon is not showing up on my phone even though it is switched on! So then I try Media Sync. Nothing again. Next I try USB Mass Storage. Ah HA! the debug shows up! Go in to device manager and update the right driver. adb devices shows my device. Awesome! But nothing works! No permission! So my final option is Charge Only. Bam! This works! I update drivers! I start adb pushing files and following directions. I get to cp /sdcard/su /system/bin/su. It craps out! Damn! More research... Oh! change bin to xbin! fixed! Finally!

So root finally happened! But only after my phone froze on the M 17 times and rebooted by itself 47 times when trying to apply the rageagainstthecage file!

So now I install Bootstrap and go into recovery and do a restore of my 2.3.9 image. All is well again!! Im back on 2.3.9!!

I guess where this long ass post is going is: 2.3.15 updated no problem, Tranquility, not so much..

I suppose I will just wait until a Rom Manager version of 2.3.15 comes out, along with Obsidian. I am more of a 1 click kind of guy..

FYI lol.

Sorry just wanted to clarify i do NOT want the OTA. I know how to revert my current froyo version to get it but its not something i want. Instead i want to go from 2.3.9 leak to 2.3.15 leak. Anyone know the best way to do this?

All the leaks are rooted. You just apply it in recovery using the choose zip from SD option. I'm 100% but I think you don't even have to wipe data. They are very easy updates.
