Root GAOSP Froyo Nightly Builds

Ok, here we go. I want to go from galaxo to gaosp. Simple as that. Now i`m asking kindly for some experienced and long time user of latest gaosp(from when it was launched) to objectively make a list with pros and cons; what's working and what is not, what is awsome and what sucks, all this compared to galaxo. Also any suggestions after going to gaosp, like performance tweeks and stuff like that. A must for me is the camera and the market to work. I`m waiting, hopefully 2nite i`ll make the change! Thanks

Just make a nandroid backup and try it out yourselves dude
Just install galaxy updater from the market and update it to latest version first

i`m in romania i cant pay for apps here, and i dont have any money on my debit card atm...i would gladly pay for drakaz's work, and i will in the future. So i cant use updater.

Galaxy Updater is free for installing Recovery. Drakaz knows that basic and important stuff should always be free. So go ahead an download it from the market dude :)

Any probs .. Ping Here

i have the 6.4 recovery already. now i dont know what to do.....to use the gaosp beta 2 or the nightly :-?? What are the HUGE differences between this 2 and the galaxo? At least tell me this, the most usefull and functional proprieties of gaosp releases over galaxo ones.

Easy...

First download the latest nightly and gapps for froyo signed ( use the 8 mb from infects box.23.pub and place the two files on your internal memory ( 8 gb) into the root ie into /sdcard

Then go into recovery from galaxy updater using REBOOT RECOVERY option.

Then make a nandroid backup in any of the 4 slots..Preferably 1st. So thats your galaxo backup. In case anything goes wrong you can choose to restore from this slot and boot back into galaxo.

Install the latest nightly by( Copied from sado )
You need to:
-wipe
-apply gaosp nightly zip
-(optional) reboot to gaosp, reboot to recovery
-apply GAOSP-ADDONS - 8 mb version download here

Thats it. You can refer to the guide to installing GAOSP if you want

Also check this out for features on GAOSP

Cool man, awsome help. Anyway i knew how to flash, since i went from 1.5 to galaxo 1.6.4 going thru all the versions. Thanks again no matter what. There's just one more thing

why is so little memory, this is after a reboot, after removing all unneessary apps from startup with startup auditor.

Also, if i dont like nightly, and i backup the nandroid slot 1, i`ll have my old galaxo 1.6.4 without any changes? all the apps and data? what happens with the nightly? just remains there in the phone not used?
\

also can i use the darksense adw launcher from infect? or i should just instal the normal adw 1.0.1 also from infect

should i rename the file " GAOSP-2-09182010-NIGHTLY.zip" to gaosp update.zip or just use it like that?

Already copied the 2 zips on my phone, just waiting for ure last post and i`ll get started :D also backed up apps and data with my backup pro.

Believe me ... I wish I had that much memory. Im stuck with 24-27

As it is with all apps settings and everything

No it will get wiped or better still ...Make a nandroid on slot 2. Then u can shufflle between them at wish :)

also can i use the darksense adw launcher from infect? or i should just instal the normal adw 1.0.1 also from infect

It has version ADW 1.1.5 integrated
I didnt try...Maybe you can tell me..Also No themes for Froyo at the moment..But will have it soon

should i rename the file " GAOSP-2-09182010-NIGHTLY.zip" to gaosp update.zip or just use it like that?

this was fast, it boots faster than galaxo, i`ve set the overclock to 710 and the adw on persistent...now i`m doing restoring and stuff...more testing to be done..
i love the iphone like slide unlock :D
i`ll need some guides about cyanogen thing :D

awsome till now, gmail works, youtube works, market works!!! i havent seen one bug yet :D

Good for you :)

try this: apparently, music can not be played through the headphones; have you tried bluetooth headset? mine isn't working too well; 3d gallery is excruciatingly slow with 200+ pics on the phone;...

though of course, we're all happy there's some actual work being done on a Froyo port... And I'm using it day to day since the last nightly; and quite happy with it! Only please don't believe we're there already ;)

Headphone no, i done have a bluetooth one sorry. Gallery is slow yea, but there is a link somewhere around here with the standard 1.6 2d gallery ..here u go..
possible to use original 1.6 photo gallery? (Page 1) - GAOSP - Help & Support - Drakaz's Android stuff
how about the overclocking, do u use it? or are u happy with the speed as it is? And how abaout the battery
i finnished all the restoring and stuff, and i played a bit with it , i must say its amazing, now i can say its a new phone, not when u switch to galaxo (thats also a awsome job too nevertheless).
I am amazed on how fast it boots and loads the adw...damn fast!

Any ideea on how to remove that headset icon on the notification bar? :D

Does the bluetooth file transfer works? i havnt tried that yet.

also the magnetic compass seems f*** up.. my bad, its working now ok :D

guys there are two sets of gapps . one is of 17mb and the other is 8mb. for me when I used 17mb one the phone became superslow. now I installed the 8mb one(the one from infect's site) phone became good again. just cross check if that's the case for you..

i have the 17mb one. what do you have to do to install the smaller one? just "apply any zip" over the previous one?

Oh, and Hi everyone, 1st post here
