Root Pete's new rom.

Running smooth for me!!

Very vanilla ROM for anybody interested

curious that you say this.. is it themed in anyway, or just vanilla FRG22D standard Droid look and feel but with functions added, code streamlined, code improvements, features opened up, etc.

I am not into themes and such, but love code and engine based improvements and functions being opened up that were once hidden or not stock.

Please advise on this anyone.

It looks like every other iteration of Bugless Beast. The appearance hasn't changed a bit. I can say this about it though:

I thought my battery indicator was "stuck" or something until it finally changed. I have been hard-charging this thing with phone calls, texting and constant music since 7 AM. It's now just after 2 PM and I JUST dropped to 60% battery! Either Bugless Beast or my 1.2GHz kernel is doing this... but battery life is spectacular on my Droid.

Pete has done it again. I don't know how he'll top it but I'm sure he'll find a way :D

Pete does stock images. Though there are usually a half dozen themes available for them.

so.. his just straight BB looks just like stock FRG22D? No look and feel theme changes (colors, icons, notification bars, etc). Just code/software improvements?

then.. if you want a new look, you can throw a theme on it. But if you do not do a theme, you just get his code improvements but not real look and feel changes and it "looks" like stock Droid GUI.

As far as i can tell the only thing that has changed is the batt status... as far as looks... It flys as far as performance...

thanks.. yeah, that 1 (one) screen shot certainly looks "stock" look and feel other than the battery icon. It looks like you would also have to reinstall your custom kernel if you have one as his would overwrite yours. Maybe I will go post over there to get clarifications.

I just switched from Pete's Bugless Beast V0.4 this past weekend to Ultimate Droid. V0.4 was very stable but my battery drained very quickly. I was using Chevy's 1.1 kernel. I may have to hold off on V0.5 to keep testing out Ultimate Droid. My battery life has been much better Chevy's ultra low volt 1.1 kernel seems to be giving me much better battery life. I also like using ADW launcher previously I was running launcher pro. I like the themes you can add to ADW. Currently I am using the sense theme.

sure. it helps. it shows me stock but for the battery icon (and I made my own one of those).

So yeah, it seems to keep close to stock on looks except maybe these things I have not seen in screenshots...

Theme: (credit to Pete)
-Transparent Notification Window
-Removed background from Launcher button

I haven't switched from BBv.4 to BBv.5 as of yet. I'm waiting to see how the phone responds to having the apps moved around from the internal storage. There seem to be significant changes in v.5 but one feature you mention is the same , the transparent notification window, which in my opinion is great. I would never want a solid one again. I'm sure ill be switching soon but BBv.4 is great also, I've used for months without a single hiccup, I highly recommend version 4. Simple but satisfying. I'm sure version 5 is even better but ill wait to see the reviews first.

the removed background from launcher button is seen in that picture, notice the app launcher button no longer has that greyish oval thing over than and the two sidebuttons, also the transparent notification window just allows you to see your BG and such when you pull down the notification compared to that grey thing usually

This is how mine looks with the evo theme, the notification pane is pretty similar in stock though

What Kernel are you running. My phone was in a boot cycle on Slayers' 1.2 GHz and the CPU got hot really quick on Slayers' 1.1

I just tried chevyno1 medium voltage 1GHz and it got a little overheated, but would recover with my profiles that would lower the clock speed in SetCPU.

I guess my next step is to try a low voltage chevyno1 kernel, 1GHz.
---update: tried low voltage and phone gets to boot animation (red eye) and reboots. It got to the unlock screen once, but promptly rebooted.--- Maybe the stock BB V0.5 is the way to go for my phone?

Or should I be to concerned about the heat production?
