Um the "complaining" (if you choose to call noting major bugs in supposed highly tested expensive devices "complaining") is the only thing that got Sprint moving on the 3G issue. The GPS bugs are still there as well although now, on Device Team's workload, putting the bogus claim that Samsung fixed it on Epic to lie..

And the OP is mistaken about Froyo for Epic, it will be quite some time after the other galaxies. DEvice testers have been told to expect it around the end of October, and that will precede release to the Epic buyers by a couple of week if there are no problems.

remember, the Evo didn't get froyo until two months into it's first released date of 6/4. we're only coming to the end of the first month for Epic. the Evo also had a ton of issues, albeit not the same as current two major Epic issues, GPS and 3G upload, but it had it's own major issues.

Evo is finally, with the latest update, up to where it should be as a powerhouse into it 3rd month. Epic should be there sooner (at least I think it will be, I hope it will be).

I'm not saying I'm happy with the Epic issues, but glad to see that Sprint and Samsung are responding to user findings.

It's hard to say how many of the Epic's issues (or Galaxy S for that matter) were discovered post release or if Samsung had a deadline to meet to get the product out the door and is simply playing catchup with firmware updates.

how long another phone took to get a froyo update has no effect on how long it takes this phone to get an update, especially when it's from a different manufacturer, at a different point in time - i.e. froyo itself wasn't officially released until the end of june, so it makes sense that it took a while for a phone released in early june to get it.

froyo for evo wasn't "officially" released until august 2nd or 3rd. i know, because i was one of those the couldn't wait and installed it manually from a leaked source a few days early.

Actually, now that I'm no longer obsessed with the phone and constantly messing with it, I've been getting pretty decent battery life. Tuesday I unplugged it after work, and didn't plug it in over night, and it lasted about midnight yesterday, probably about 32 hours - and that was with my normal usage pattern (4G browsing for 15 minutes on the train, WiFi connection in the office, a few phone calls, a few texts.) That's better than my ancient launch day Centro was doing before I retired it for the Epic, so I'm happy

Well I am glad your happy but your about the only person who is happy.

The battery life before the update was great... but now after... its the worst ever... I don't know how you can't see a difference.

I'm not fully confident that Samsung or Sprint will fix the battery life issues, but I am that the folks at SDX will. One thing that I have noticed about all these android phones that they all have an issue of some sort, none are perfect. If they were, we have nothing to bitch about on this site. How boring would that be?

alright so I was reading on the evo forums and they are having the same problems as us... one thing that I noticed is that my phone is not going into sleep mode since the update. its running 100% of the time just with the screen off.

This seems to be the problem.

On the evo forums they seem to think that the talk app by google is causing it not to sleep along with some other.

Can someone who has not done the update go to menu>applications>running services and let me know what you have running there?

The Talk app is constantly popping up along with the media hub, and amazonMP3. I am hoping that if we can get rid of these that the phone will sleep and it will improve our battery life
