ProClip has released a Droid mount

I totally agree, but there were people who swear by the ProClip mounts. I already have the Verizon car mount, I just need to find some way to get the disc to stick to my dashboard.

I cleaned it with the alcohol pad, jet the disc wouldn't stick. Removed the pad and tried double-sided tape, and had the same results. Looks like it's going to be Mighty Putty to the rescue!

I had a Proclip in my car already for my G1. Bought the Motorola car mount and was pretty easy to modify it to fit on Proclip base. I don't like the device holder from Proclip because it slides in to fit and if you have any kind of protective film, won't work.

I was going to say the same thing after looking at the pictures on their site. My concern is that since it slides in, it also slides out - maybe when you don't want it to. Not likely in landscape orientation, but in portrait orientation it's possible.

Anyone who really wants the ProClip mounting system, yet doesn't like their device holder, can easily get adapters from ProClip to allow the Verizon/Motorola holder to attach to the ProClip vehicle-specific mount.

I could see having a slide-in holder if it incorporated a charger, but alas...

i have a vehicle mount for my VW GTI that goes into the center vent from proclip. instead of buying the "device" mount for every device i need, all i did was use a dashboard disc you get with some GPS units. I double sided taped that to the vent mount and from there i just suction cup whatever i want to it. i already bought my car mount for the droid and it works perfectly mounted this way

I just received the Motorola Car Mount. My ProClip Mount is attached to my center console. I removed the ProClip ball mount and holder for my previous phone and attached the adhesive mounting disk for the Motorola mount to the ProClip platform.

I now have:
1. A very flexible phone mount with unlimited swivel points and directions.
2. The ability to remove the suction mount and place it on the windshield of another car.
3. A Droid car mount with the magnets to automatically put the phone in "car mode" (the ProClip mount does not have the magnets).
4. The ProClip Droid mount is $34.99 while the Motorola mount from the Verizon store was $23.99 (corp disc). I saved $11.00 and ended up with a much better solution.

The only thing that you may want to consider is the Motorola mount is big with its extension arm. I like the arm because it brings the phone closer to my hand; but some may think that it makes the phone too prominent in the car.

I really would love to see a more versatile mount in regards to size of droid. It looks like this mount and the Motorola car mount fit the droid only when it is naked. I (and I assume a lot of others) have put a case on for protection, which would make it too large for this mount and the Motorola one. I would rather just hold the GPS or set it next to me than having to take off my case every time I jumped in the car.

Depending on the case, it can be impossible for a mount to actually hold a phone with a case on it. People have over emphasized the need for casing phones.

hey all. Just thought I'd chime in (if you look at my sig you'll see why). Having sold and use ProClip mounts for years, I can say they are the best in the market. You won't find any other manufacturer that makes as many mounts for as many vehicles and devices as ProClip. They are also the only mfg (well may Kunda) that makes vehicles mounts that require no removal of dash components. It's an extremely solid fit and looks very OEM.

Provide the OEM cradle allows the Droid to be used in the open position I'd probably go with the OEM cradle and attach it to a ProClip mount for the sake of price.

Personally, I can't stand suction cup mounts as they are just fugly and in some cases illegal to have on your windshield. They also advertise to everyone you have some cool electronics in your car since many don't bother to disengage them when they leave their cars. Not to mention having a the charging cable running all the way up your dash. ProClip usually has multiple options for mounting in your car. Some might go around the bezel of vents, but they never involve the vents. If you're using it for gps, many vehicles will have ones that are near the top set of vents so it's high up and keeps your eyes closer to the road. Definitely wouldn't recommend the low console mounts if you plan on using gps quite a bit. Too distracting down low.

Not sure where the usb connection is, but you might see a powered version come in time that could make it seem like a dock. Then you'd never have to worry about dangling cables and fumbling to connect the phone when you get in the car. If it doesn't work out that way, you can always take a small cord management clip and stick it on to the back of the cradle so the adapter tip is always within reach.

If anyone has any questions or wants to save more than the 10% proclip is already offering for the holiday season, let me know. I'll be over in the Moment section :)

Another plus is my backorders ship before direct customers. Resellers get priority in general. Their orders are shipped and backorders are filled first, even for small timers such as myself who generally sells a little on ebay and on the forums I frequent.

If you use bing cashback I can always setup a Buy It Now auction for you on ebay. It'd be at 10% off since that's all I can publicly advertise, but you'lll get the additional bing cashback as well which is at 8% currently. Did one auction for someone and they got an additional 20% back which is about the cheapest I've ever seen a proclip product go.

I too also received an email form ProClip's They are also coming out with a mount with a charger attached. I am sure this will be pricey as well, but worth it. The following is a portion of the email i received and a picture.

Our holders for the Motorola Droid with build in charging options are designed with a newly angled charging connector. This will give you a cleaner look and installation in your vehicle. This design will allow you to use the holder in portrait and landscape orientation as well with the slider open or closed.

Due to the new design we anticipate the release of these charging holders in mid-January. At that time you will receive another notification e-mail from us.
