I'm loving the ROM so far, does anyone know how to remove Friendstream. I tried to use the regular adb commands to move it to apps.disabled but it didn't work. Then I realized that on the Virtuous site he said some apps were put in disabled folder. I still see it in the app drawer and am looking to get rid of it.

I should've mentioned in the original post. I downloaded that and unistalled the widget so I wouldn't be able to place it on any home screens. The .apk is installed because it shows up in my apps drawer. When I click it I'm prompted to sign in or quit.

it says it leaves a fragment in the list when you use the buddy to remove it. should be gone if you uninstalled through virt buddy

It's still there! I used buddy, I even went under tools and changed to read/write to see if that would help. No luck. The widget is removed but in the app drawer friendstream is there laughing at me. I noticed that under remove apps in buddy it says remove friendstream widget whereas Facebook says remove Facebook. That's why I assumed it was meant to just remove the widget.

Dude,

1) The actual widget is gone. What you seeing is just a left over fragment so it only APPEARS to be still installed. (Use system panel app to check and you will see this app is not running anywhere, not even cached or in background)

2) Virtuous buddy does not update itself on the main menu to indicate that the app is uninstalled but it does have a place that lists all uninstalled apps.. go look at that list in VB and you should see your removed app in the list.

I appreciate the help, I remembered unistalling with adb in 2.1 and I didn't remember ever seeing it again until I flashed Virtuous, I assumed I did something wrong.

You may be right about not having seen it again until you installed Virtuous. When you did the uninstall with adb in 2.1, you may have uninstalled it completely enough that there was not even a fragment left. I think I have read in a thread on here that there is a way to remove the fragment. I may do some checking around.

P.S. I didn't read all the way back through the whole thread, but here is a pretty good thread on the manual removal of apps. You might be able to find what you are looking for there.

I just noticed this response by rmk to someone over on twitter and it sounds like a response to the type of thing you have been asking about. The message said:

"HTC Launcher only scans for widget changes when it first initializes a new config. So, stale entries stick around in the launcher db."

Just wanted to post this in case someone encounters the same issue:

I checked under running processes and friendstream was running after I used buddy to uninstall the widget. I downloaded a free file system explorer from the market and manually moved friendstream.apk (not sure if that's the exact name) out of /system/app to app.disabled. I've restarted and it is out of the app drawer and not running.

Really? Well, my apologies. I wonder if the same issue exists in Virtuous 3.0 and Virtuous Buddy 3.0? It might be a good idea to give rmk over at Virtuous ROM a heads up just in case.
