Hey all,

I was just wondering what settings I can tweak to improve the X's battery life after the 2.2 update. I do not want to root or uninstall bloatware, though (I did that with 2.1 and had a bitch of a time getting the OTA 2.2 to install correctly).

Any suggestions???

Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Wi-Fi settings -> Menu button -> Advanced -> Wi-Fi sleep policy -> set to Never

Wifi takes up less battery than 3g. Also, turn off wifi when you're not in a wifi network and turn it back on immediately when you're back. Some people use the Y5 - Battery Saver app to do this automatically.

Battery manager; change off peak hours to hours that fit you and set turn data off for 15 minutes. Some people even put set data off for 15 minutes for peak hours, but that's your call.

Those are the basics off the top of my head, but there are other techniques some people use.

I don't get the reason for the off-peak settings.

If it's an off-peak time and I'm using my phone, I want data to work the same way as during peak. If it's off-peak and I'm not using the phone, I'm sleeping and the phone is on the charger.

I guess people have different schedules, but to even have a "battery manager" and that's all it does seems kind of pointless.

I don't think there's much battery savings no matter how you set that option up.

I find it saves quite a bit.

Setting offpeak to 15 minutes does not prevent your phone from using data during off peak hours if you are actually using the phone. It prevents apps from kicking in 15 minutes after you stop using it. You dont need the news widget updated every 30 minutes while you sleep (for example)

To get the most out of it you need to root. (SetCPU and Autokiller are great root apps)

About the best thing you could do without rooting is setup your battery manager custom and turn off data every 15 mins for peak and off-peak...works good for me. Also go into Data Manager and turn off Background Data to conserve battery as well. I turn my brightness on my screen to the lowest setting.

I am 6 hours off the charger at 90% battery. That's with about 6 phone calls, 4-5 txt messages, web browsing, market browsing, messing with phone settings, etc..

Completely agree. I've really stopped worrying about battery life to be honest. I crank my settings/brightness/etc all the way up and leave them there unless I know I'll be away from an outlet all day. I do keep wifi and gps off if I'm not using them, but besides that I have everything else pretty much turned on.
