How many of you have/or will be returning your Epic (30-days)?

Well as of about 30-mins ago, I am back on Tmo - just waiting for porting to go through, and then I'll be going to my Sprint store to return my Epic.

This is a sad day for me , as I didn't want to return this awesome little phone (my 1st smart phone), but I wasn't willing to risk being stuck with it past my 30-days trial.

My plan is to remain on Tmo until they come out with a phone that I like as much (or better) than the Epic, or until Sprint fixes the Epic (UL, and GPS) - which ever comes 1st, in which case I'd consider coming back to Sprint for the Epic.

So just out of curiousity, how many of you are returning your Epic's? Who's planning to ride it out past the 30-days, and take the risk?

My actual response would be between the last two. Although my phone is not perfect, I'm certain updates will be released for it and the plans I get on Sprint are much less expensive than anywhere else. Enjoy your T-Mobile. You do know they have a Galaxy S, too, right? Why not get that one?

Keeping it. I'm pretty sure the major problems should be eventually taken care of. It's a competitiveness issue. Though if Samsung fails to fix them, never again.

Hassle-free phone and data service mean a lot to me. I love the screen and processor, but the main reason I'm keeping the Epic over the Evo is the qwerty keyboard. I can't do without it.

I am picking up a replacement in the next few days, however.

I could care less about the qwerty keyboard, my wife however needs one. My friend just stopped by and I had him run the Speedtest on his droid x and he got 1800 down and 800 up. I got 345 down and 145 up.

damn, i get around 1500 dl / 150 ul, upload sucks but they already said they're fixing it now.
Although 3g isn't really an issue for me considering I have 4g every where I go, 9k dl, 1300 ul

Yep, I know about the Vibrant, and I actually considered it a few months ago when it came out. But then I learned of what Sprint's version of the GS had, and it fit my criteria more of what I wanted in a phone. So I left Tmo for the Epic.

I miss my Epic - and will hope to get another good phone on Tmo (if they come out with one I like) or come back to the Epic/Sprint when the bugs are worked out. This was my 2nd Epic, and I just wasn't willing to gamble a 3rd Epic at this time.

What phone did you get on Tmo?

Nothing yet, went back to my old POS for now, waiting to see what the holidays bring at Tmo - or waiting to see what happens with the Epic.

I wouldn't say my Epic is perfect. But I have no big complaints, so far. I also have my iPhone 4 still and don't really need the upload to be fast on my Epic.. although obviously I would like to see it fixed asap.

The GPS works fine for me. At least as well as it does on my iP4 (which is pretty good). It sometimes takes a little longer to lock in, but I also find it more accurate than my iP4, at times.

I have two more weeks, but I can't imagine returning it. I tried the Evo first and didn't like it. Much happier with the Epic. And Sprint is the only mobile carrier that has good coverage where I live now (which is why we added it to begin with).

The Epic is my first smart phone. I have had a couple initial issues which have disappeared (mostly some freezes that required yanking the battery). While I still admire the iPhone in many ways, I like Sprint's plan and coverage (truly), and I'm a 'premier member' having been with them forever for what little that's worth (about $75)...So it's pretty much the Evo, the Epic or nothing; nothing being my previous voice/text only play, which ran $60/mo. or so for two phones with wife.

Having used this phone daily for almost a month, it's a great phone and I'm not convinced a 'better' phone is out there. I admire the polish of the i-Stuff, but I love the flexibility of the android OS, sdCards, etc. My upload speed is limited, it appears, and I'm missing the rapture of "Froyo", but doubt either will be life-changing, even when they are fixed. No GPS issues that I've noticed.

If I change anything, it will be to go back to NO smart-phones, and save the $60 a month or so. The Epic/iPhone/insert late-model smart-phone is a Jack of All Trades, but Master of None. It does GPS, but a dedicated Garmin is far better; it can 'kinda' play movies, but not as well as a cheapo portable dvd player, etc. Same same with the camera.

OTOH, it's awful damn convenient just carrying a phone, so I think we'll keep 'em.

I hit option 4, but it is by no means perfect. I just know one of Sprint's 2 flagship devices is not going to go forever with GPS issues and an older OS version. I came from a Palm Pre so I'm definitely used to having to wait on updates. The GPS and upload cap issues are the big ones and we know for a fact they will get fixed.

should of went for epic #3. I did yesterday and will get as many as I need till I'm satisfied lol. I sold my moment today so the p.o.s is gone. I'll buy the next best to come out whenever it does n sell the epic then

I wouldn't say my Epic is perfect. But I have no big complaints, so far.

I voted the 3rd. option. I love this phone/netbook. I am hopeful that updates will only improve a really great phone/netbook. I just ordered a second non-OEM battery so that I don't have to worry as much about the crappy battery life issue so I guess I'm in it for the long-haul.

Yeah, I was tempted to try a 3rd Epic - and if the UL, GPS and the menu button would have been the only problems I had with the phone, I might have selected the "risk" option, and traded the phone in for another Epic, with hopes of a working menu button.

I guess I should have been more clear, while the UL and GPS bothered me, I do agree with others here that those will be fixed eventually (I hope). But to only get 1-2 bars in my house, along with constant cut in & out conversations, that was a major issue for me.

I've read that others whom have had the same reception issues with the Epic (1-2 bars), switched to an Evo, and were then able to get 3-5 bars solid. I actually called to test an Evo out, but we're out of stock here. And to be honest, I really don't want an Evo, I want the Epic.

While the map shows my area as good, I was getting fair/poor. In fact the tech guy laughed when I told him, if my area is considered good - I'd hate to see a fair/poor map area!

I have to wonder though, if when the UL and GPS issue gets fixed, if this will have any bearings on my signal capabilities? I am not techie savvy, so I have no idea if one, has to do with the other. If so, then I'd love to try the Epic again (once fixed), and come back to Sprint.

Eh - it's OK. It's Tmo's first HSPA+ device - just as the Evo was Sprint's first 4G phone. But after coming off the Epic, it makes the G2 look like crapola! lol (IMO of course). I am sure those who get it will love it, it's just not the phone for me.

I'd rather wait and see what else Tmo has coming out for the holidays, and or wait and see if coming back to the Epic is an option - assuming the signal issues are tied into the GPS/UL issue. Again, I know nothing about how this works - I just know that others have said to get better phone/talk signal with the Evo, than the Epic.

Staying with it. I'm much happier with it then I was with my evo. Samsung might be taking their time but I have faith they will deliver the 2.2 update.

I returned mine due to the GPS, 3G upload and WiFi range issues. Wound up getting a working Evo (finally, had various issues with prior units) when I returned the Epic.

I thought the Epic was generally excellent, and in most respects preferred it to the Evo, but I have to have a fully working Android phone for development, and the Epic simply doesn't work properly yet.

Years of experience with Samsung have left me gun-shy about them ever properly fixing things (witness the GPS "fix" for the other Galaxy S phones), so this was a device that needed to work properly from the get-go for me.

That said, if they get all the issues worked out and get an update to Froyo released before the next wave of Android superphones hit, I'll eagerly and happily buy another Epic.

I am mainly happy with the Epic. Custom ROMS will surface and make it even better. I really don't have many issues with the stock ROM. I only have one real issue that bothers me. The stock calendar, email client, and office software suck badly. I am sure there are apps that are better. I just don't know what ones they are. The camera/video recorder is simply amazing. Call clarity is best I ever had. GPS doesn't cause me any issues ( I just drove from Grand Rapids, MI to Chicago, IL and got all around town, with no issues. My Touch Pro 2 was really bad in the downtown area), The screen on this thing is absolutely brilliant. Videos playback perfect. The qwerty keyboard is very nice compared to others. WIFI tethering works great. I am gonna keep this bad boy.

This is where I find myself as well. My confidence was boasted when I had a glitch with my Google account, that did not allow me to download apps from the Market. I figured it would take weeks if not a month for a fix, I was wrong, fix came the next day. As of now, everything is working almost perfectly, for what I need, and I have complete confidence that Samsung and Sprint will be righting things that need to get fixed. Sprint has even credited my account the $10 premium data fee until everything is up and running the way it should be.

Same here, next yr 3g phones should be better hardware wise then the EVO/Epic hopefully. 4g does nothing for me since 1st I dont have 4g and heaven knows when I will get it and 2nd the 4g coverage is spotty at best. So I am only going to pay for 4g one year then it back down to good ole 3g which is good enough for what I do .
