Root Tried updating Sprint OTA EVO update with rooted EVO?

And I get a exclamation mark with a Triangle. What should I do? Also, I used Unrevoked 3 to root it if that makes a difference.

take out the battery re insert the battery and turn on the phone. From what I read in previous threads.

I heard you have to unroot. But if you unroot, and then ROOT again, that takes FOREVER!!!! Like literally, it took me 1 hour to root. I don't want to do that again.

Wait does anyone know how to unroot it? I've just decided I was going to unroot and install the Official update. Sense the root update doesn't work also.

you unrooted by taking the ota, you may have bricked your phone, the only thing to try is to get pc36img on the root of your sdcard. You are victim of the half root

I don't want to be annoying or anything. But where do I exactly put the pc36img file?

Still no luck. I'm kind of regretting that I rooted the phone.

No, dont regret that you rooted your phone, regret that you didnt take the time to learn about rooting your phone and you would have seen (on every post about using a rooted phone) everyone saying "DONT DO A OTA W/ OUT UNROOTING OR YOU COULD BREAK YOUR PHONE". They almot always come out w/ a rooted version of the ota within hours/days (if not even before the official ota is released sometimes) for those of us who are rooted ad want to update to newest stuff. But remember dont do something just b/c you think it would be cool w/ out first learning what is all involved in doing it!

Good lord people. Why don't you just wait a day for the developers like Fresh and Cyanogen to incorporate all the changes in the latest OTA in their roms / kernels? Using the HTC OTA directly is just silly.

I followed the goodnevo site.

Basically you use rom manager
d/l the rooted ota onto your sdcard
choose update rom or something in rom manage
and a pop up will ask you to wipe cache and back up current rom, suggested you do both.
All done.

And me being nervouse about doing anything to my phone on my own, read and reread everything like I did when i was thinking of rooting, two weeks of reading and watching youtube videos for rooting about a day and half of reading up on updating the ota rooted etc. LOL.

One drawback, previous to updated the rom, I did a back up of all my apps with titanium as recomended on here by serveral people. When I went to restore everything, it resotred the apps but sadly I had to manually re enter contact information unless I did something wrong, even though I chose restore apps with data

Any good app just to backup contacts so I don't have to reenter them again next update? Or did I simply miss somethhing on titanium.

Thanks everyone but this has been resolved. I flashed PC36IMG and updated it and then ran Unrevoked again to re-root it.

You should have all of your contacts in your google account and not in the phone. When your contacts are in your google account then they just sync back to the phone when you sign back into the account after flashing the rom.

Keeping contacts in your google account means that you canj ust sync no matter what happens to your phone...not just flashing a new rom.

Some people dont like all there info stored in the cloud, the program "MyBackup Pro" (available in the app market) will back up everything including contacts, and if you are already rooted it will even restore the "market links" for the apps that allows the market to be able to see your apps after restoring them. But I will say that using a google account for your contacts is the best way to go, that way if you ever lose you phone or change phones its easier to get your contacts back.
