Waiting for the HTC Tablet

All the news on Android tablets is very exciting, but for me, none of it matters until I hear definitively about an HTC tablet.

HTC is rumored to be putting out an Android tablet in Q1 of next year. I'll wait. I have the HTC Incredible and I think it rocks. Plus, I love HTC Sense. A few of my friends have the newer Motorola Droid X and I was surprised by how many things I was telling them to use that turned our to be part of HTC Sense.

The rumored spec's have pretty much everything I currently dream of in a tablet, including anticipated full access to the Android Market due to the expected inclusion of Gingerbread.

The only thing I am not excited about is the expected high price if not tied to a Verizon data plan. With all the tablets on the market I am a little surprised they would have a steep price for a non tied tablet, but I suppose we will see when it actually comes out.

I wouldn't hold your breaths for an HTC tablet, they have said from the beginning of this whole tablet boom that making one is very low on their priorities. However, if they do make one I'm sure it will be one of the better ones available, probably on par with the Galaxy tab or what Motorola will come out with, but it will also be extremely expensive.

I am also interested in the HTC tablets. But I don't think tablets will take off until Android is optimized for them if they ever take off at all.

I agree about Android needing to be optimized. But all the needs/rumors seem to be coming together.

Android Gingerbread is supposed to be coming out in Q1 2011. HTC is rumored to be putting out an Android tablet in Q1 2011. A manufacturer has supposedly taken orders for an HTC tablet.

As to whether we should or can wait until Q1 2011 - It seems silly not to wait now that I understand FroYo is not optimized for tablets at all and most of the tablets do not have access to the Android market. Both of those are drop dead issues for me. So - whether the rumors pan out or not I am not buying anything until at least Gingerbread is out, and we see tablets taking advantage of the market.

HTC and Google have a good relationship now and HTC making this tablet makes sense. I like their quality and I like their software. Its worth the wait to me to see what they do.

Same here! But, since my requirments for a tablet is different than my requirments for a phone it's up in the air if I get an Android (HTC) or WebOS or Windows 7 tablet.
Oh, I don't think I could ever get a tablet with a different OS than my smartphone. I plan to use them in tandem, and you better believe that Google is planning for their more official tablets to be used in this way. You won't be able to do things like Chrome to Phone from a WebOS or WP7 tablet. At least I don't think you could.

Anyway, with all the press about the RIM tablet, the next iPad, and the Galaxy Tab; one would think that Moto or HTC would get their crap together and start leaking info.
