Accessories Carrying options for Evo while running/jogging/exercising.

I'm not sure the brand of armband I have. I got it off ebay for $5. I was a little worried about it staying on since the band was neoprene so I just bought about a foot of 2in elastic and some extra velcro and MacGyver'ed it(thank you Home Ec for teaching me to sew). For those of you worried that the EVO is too big to run with...I'm only 5'2...it takes up most of my upper arm...but I'm sure you guys are probably much taller and have longer arms. I'm currently using a free app called RunStar. I'm sure there are better out there but this one has a good interface and nice big buttons...easy to use if while you're running. I'm not sure about it fitting into my jacket for ski season but...then I guess I'll just buy a new jacket!

Sounds like your having a great time.

skiing.. with my past luck on the slopes, I'd be scared to have my EVO anywhere on me... LOL

I downloaded something similar and used it on a bike ride. Showed my path on Google Maps, distance, time and MPH. Pretty cool I say.....

Keep up the running. When I went into the USMC (1989), I would run the 1 1/2 mile run in 18 mins with my recruiter. Totally sucked but hadn't run since the last time I played neighborhood pickup sports (football, baseball, etc). Got it down to 12ish on the 1st run in boot camp. My best while in was 20:30 for 3 miles (usually around 22-23). Now, it might take a day and a half....LOL

run with the evo all the time. When I use my extended battery, it doesn't fit in a case. I just hold it in my hand. Bluetooth headphones (rockfish). In the gym, I just put the phone in the corner and walk around the gym with my bluetooth headphones and control the music player or pandora with the headphones. Never a need to carry it around. The point of these types of phones is to be able to sell your gps, mp3 player, etc. I use nothing but my evo for everything.

+1, I use an old cheap Iphone armband and since it stretches I cram my evo in there so there is NO WAY it could fly out.

I run and let CardioTrainer give me updates on how much ground I've covered, how many mph, and how many calories I'm burning. No music at all.

What are you looking for? I use CardioTrainer and have been for about 1 month and it is great. It is very customizable as far as how often it gives you updates and what sort of updates you want. I have mine set to alternate every .2 miles with my speed and my distance/time. If you want, it can also serve as your music player, though I don't use mine for that. It has the ability to pause your workout if you stop and you can adjust the sensitivity of that. It will also map out your run and allow you to save it to view later. This has been helpful in reviewing different routes to remember the distances and the elevation changes of specific routes. It also keeps a running tally of how much total time you have run and how much distance you have traveled. That is good if you have a goal for a certain amount of running in a particular timeframe. All of that and it is free. I'd strongly urge you to try it out. As I said, I can't comment on endomondo, but CardioTrainer is outstanding.

Thanks for the info. I played with endomondo briefly and then installed cardiotrainer. Endomondo supports using a heart rate monitor which is an interesting feature but the settings of cardiotrainer are more detailed allowing more fine tuning it appears.

At this point, I'm just looking for a workout tracking log and some basic stats. Either looks like they offer that.

Anyway, wanted to get input on these apps when used specifically with the EVO.

Thanks!

just have to avoid rain with all the electronics

That's an issue for me - the best runs are in the rain. I need to find a proper sized zip-lock bag for my EVO. I too use the Garmin 305 ( love it) and only remove it from my wrist if it starts dumping. If it dumps I take it off and stick one part of the band in my shorts and let my shirt blouse over it.
I also take them biking, but bike jerseys have the back pockets that make life easier for carrying ID, Electronics, snacks and tools

I bought an armband for an iphone a while ago that would probably fit an EVO.

I can't wait to try this app too: JogTracker - Android app on AppBrain

Neat but you can't beat SportyPal imho. Tracks walks, jogs, bikes, rollerblading etc. I used it on my HTC touch diamond and the GPS on my EVO... well lets jsut say it roxers my boxers !

I tear up the bowls at our local skatepark. I throw it in my front pocket, and fire up pandora and get busy.

Some of our bowls are 12' deep at Hoffman Action park. It is a very aggressive and dangerous environment. That's the main reason i got a case for it.

My last two HTC devices (Touch and Touch pro) went skating with me daily with no ill effects. HTC builds their stuff to last!

If it helps, I take the Evo in the rain and wrap it in some saran wrap (cling wrap or what have you). Even with a few layers, you can still use the screen. I then put it in the pocket of my Camelbak and have no issues.

For a good size ziploc bag, use the "snack" size. They are about half as deep as a regular ziploc, rectangular sized just like the Evo. Works great!

so, i don't have my evo yet (and this is my first post), nor do i have an extended battery yet--but i'm guessing that i'll get one and still want to run with it. has anyone found a armband+case that works with the extended battery?

any thoughts much appreciated. . .
