Hi everyone

I have a Motorla Milestone and I'm experiencing some problems with the photo quality.

When I try to take a picture the camera focuses and seems to be sharp.
I then take the picture and the first second it appears on the screen the quaility and sharpness looks OK.
A second later I can see there is some extra "blur" added and the picture gets an unsharp look.

I have tried different settings but they all seem to give the same result.
Do I have a defective unit? Or is this a wrong software setting?

I hope someone finds a solution because these pictures look even worse than 3.2MP shots from previous Nokia mobile.

Kind regards
Saad

...when I was considering the Milestone as my next phone, I read reviews, watched YouTube vids and asked questions in forums. It was pretty unanimous, in that they all said the camera sucked...even though video was lauded as half-decent.

This doesn't answer your questions, but its info to be considered.

I totaly disagree with everything you and everyone else are saying. I own a milestone and have replaced my 7.1mp Sony camera. I don't know where you got yours from but my Canadian version rocks for a camera at 5mp. The only thing is when the battery is low the camera flash goes out of sync... seems to be fixed in that last update but with low battery seems to not be as bright which is logical. For an all in one the phone out right rocks for what you get... you want a great camera buy a 1000$ camera... For an all in one integrated phone I give it a 9 out of 10. The video portion of the phone is 720p is exceeds my expectations for a phone with a video recording device. It looks awesome on my 42' big screen TV. Can't ask for any more then that in a phone. 10 out of 10 for video recording capability.

If you hook up the usb and copy the photos to your computer do they still look blurry?

I remember one complaint when 2.1 fist came out was that the gallery used some new render library that made pics look blurrier oon the phone than they really were.

to answer the question, i've noticed that there is a bug in 'Gallery' or whatever app you use to open it. Like many other digital devices, when you view a picture it first loads the 'blurry' one and then after a second or two it will clear up. BUT for some reason, sometimes it doesnt clear up and remains blurry. I've noticed that if i exit "gallery" and use an app like atk and kill all other running processes, and then start up gallery again that this helps.

i have taken out sometime to give you guys a preview of how bad the milestone camera is. The problem is with the post processing algorithm which tries to reduce the noise and while doing it ruins the quality of the picture. This problem is not with all the milestone devices but i have only noticed a few people who have raised this issue. Any way, i'm using milestone with andriod 2.1 update1. Camera quality is like this since i un-boxed it. I've also contacted motorola custome care online and the technical person said the solution to the problem will be a hard reset :) .. (just like the solution for every windows problem is a system re-boot) such a stupid thing to say really. That didn't help obviously, so PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP ME?

Wow I'm not sure how a lot of people have problems with this camera? I can take exceptional quality pictures with this camera. Actually I now hardly use my Sony 7.1mp camera because I have this phone now! If the battery is low yes there is a issue with the flash. Easy fix is to turn the flash off and try to use natural light. Of course you would need some background light and not be in pitch black. I've also noticed this when the flash is on and it doesn't need to be. My pictures are crystal clear and great quality! If you want the best picture quality then buy a 1000$ camera. Remeber this is a phone and used for calling people.
