Wirefly or verizon store

Returning and returning isn't going to get you one without problems as it seems that most of the issues/complaints are software related. Also don't forget that Wirefly is a lot more strict on their TOS and doesn't allow you to move the phone to another line or downgrade plans in the first 6 months.

what are these software issues you speak of?

and yes, this is why i paid $200 for mine through Verizon instead of going through Wirefly or Amazon, etc.....if you thought Verizon's own terms were strict, wait until you read the mousetype at Wirefly......

go ahead and call Verizon up and change your calling plan three months after getting your new Fascinate for $10 through Wirefly....what happens next? they instantly charge your credit/debit card $490, the difference between retail $500 and the $10 you paid, all because you broke the agreement between you and Wirefly

Backlight on the soft touch buttons not staying lit for very long, laggy gps, and quite a few others.

backlit leds is a joke...they work the same no matter how long they stay lit, but im sure this is a simple firmware update that will come alone by either Samsung or the community, not a reason to return a phone and not a defect

the GPS has worked perfectly for me when i used it...

i dunno man, kind of strange, i guess i just got lucky

i just read through that lengthy link you provided, interesting stuff, oddly enough in my daily use which does include gmail and exchange server email auto sync'ing among other things like streaming music and whatnot...i have had zero issues...

oh, I definitely wouldn't return it for any of the issues listed. I came from a rooted, overclocked Droid and the Fascinate is just amazing. The backlight isn't an issue until you're in the dark and trying to guess where the buttons are and it's a slight annoyance that google doesn't make the manufacturers stick with a uniform order of the buttons.

As for GPS, it's definitely an issue for a lot of people. Mine works fine as long as I've used it recently but if I haven't used it for an extended period of time, it's like it clears everything out and has to reset. If I go into maps, select an address and choose Navigate, it will sit on Searching for GPS for 3-5min. Only really a slight annoyance for me since I have a general idea of the direction I need to go. Oddly enough the lock has been fairly quick today. Guess I didn't leave it idle since I messed with it last night and this morning so maybe I'll leave it alone til tomorrow afternoon and check.

I'm starting to sound like a broken record with this but if anyone is having GPS syncing issues try syncing outdoors/outside and not inside especially if you are underneath multiple layers of floors, roof, ceiling, etc. Not saying its a cure all but many are finding relief/solution this way

I am worried about a hardware problem. Like the distorted earpiece or something like that.

I'm going back to the VZW store to try a 3rd Fascinate today. If the call quality is as awful as the first two, then I'll be exchanging for the Droid 2 or leaving altogether for the iPhone (yuck).

I paid more at the VZW store than had I bought online, but I am glad because of the exchanges.

i dont understand whats going on here.....either some of you are just way too picky or some of us are just wayyy too lucky to get perfect phones in terms of call quality and GPS....i just dont get it.....i really dont think there are that many defective phones coming of the same line as the perfect phones are...manufacturing like this doesn't work this way. the only way that would happen is if there was a bad lot of mainboards or radios that somehow got mixed in with the good ones on the assembly line by mistake

I bought mine from Amazon. I actually recently got my phone replaced with another Fascinate because of the call quality issue. The process was so simple.

Called them up, told them my problem, they shipped the phone, two days later new phone arrives, shipped out old one with a prepaid label they sent me. Simple as that.
