Cellphone radiation II

This is my first poll at this site and I didn't see an option to ask more than one question so I am forced at this time to submit a second poll, just to ask my second question. Sorry about that.

I have to say... unless a cell phone is putting off near nuclear reactor levels of radiation, you're not going to feel anything. If a cell phone really put off as much radiation as you apparently fear, DroidRick, why even bother getting one? You're going to be similar levels of exposure just by being outside within range of a cell tower. Not to mention the radio waves in the air for your favorite radio station to listen to in the car.

The way you make it sound... are you like... some albino immune deficient bubble boy? I think a lead bunker in the heart of the Mariana trench or something might be best for you or something. The sun gives off radiation, your screen on the phone gives off radiation, hell, almost anything electronic irradiates you in some minute insignificant way. Best to stay away from all of it in your case.

It doesn't put me off using a cell phone but I believe there may be something in it. There are just too many people about who have suffered brain cancers claimed to have been caused by cell phones for it to be just coincidence.

The governments that sold all that airway say its safe, so it must be eh?

That is why they all include warnings in their manuals about how you should hold your cellphones when using and carrying them.

And suppose a sensitive individual appeared on a forum similar to this one and posted a similar poll, not about cellphones though, but about cigarette smoke.

Do you think it would have been likely the individual would have been ridiculed about it? Be honest with your answer.

Everything is bad for you nowadays. And we are all going to die. So might as well do whatever.. And to answer the question; No I do not feel any sort of sensation, if you actually do I think there may be an issue with your phone...

There has been a lot of money spent researching this and "so far" there have been no findings of health risks, but the research is continuing, so who knows?

I make it a point not to listen to anyone who makes ANY medical claims, without a medical degree.

Case in point, the number of brain tumors has not increased, despite the rapid rise of cell phone usage in this country.

That is in the manual for the same reason that cell manufacturers put the antenna at the bottom of the phone. The FCC limits the amount of radiation that the cellphone can expose you too. They put that in there to "ensure" that you aren't exposed to any more "radiation" than is allowed by the FCC.

Unlikely. As far as I know, no one has ever thought cigarette smoke was actually healthy for you.

I have used many phones over the years (friends, family) and they all impart the same sensation, so no, it's not an issue with just my phone.

Not because people didn't know cigarette's were unhealthy. If they would have been ridiculed, it would have been because people were adults and were allowed to make the decision to be unhealthy.

Mentions the Interphone Study, but the general consensus among the scientists of the InterPhone Study is that it doesn't show anything clearly. Neither that there is no risk, or that there is an increased risk. As scientists who believe both extremes have made both statements (scientists who participated in the InterPhone study).

The article from GQ... (hint:try scientific articles in the future, not opinion pieces) quoted Microwave news, which is anti-cellphone. The editor of Microwave News decided a LONG time ago that cell phones caused Brain Cancer.

The article makes the claim that there is a 40 percent higher risk of brain tumors when using cell phones for more than a decade (specifically those behind the right ear, where the cell phone is placed). (This was not a conclusion that the InterPhone Study scientists came to a consensus on. Only a few fringe scientists believed that to be the case. In fairness, only a few fringe scientists in the study believed that it proved NO higher brain cancer risk either. The consensus is that it proved nothing, and further study is needed).

Interestingly enough, that's NOT where the cell phone radiation comes from. It comes from the BOTTOM of the phone, around your jaw. It would effect the front of your brain, not the part behind your ear.

Again, another opinion pieceand this one doesn't even both to try to present science to back up it's position. Honestly, it reads more like a plug for Davis's book, than an actually commentary on Cell phone radiation.

The GQ article was extremely well-researched and well-written.
If you read it carefully you will see that most of the author's references are to scientists and their work.

You would have learned that Davis HAS done actual research on the subject. She IS a scientist.
