Any experience with non-OEM accessories for the Epic??

I give up trying to get longer use from the battery, so I need to purchase spares. I know that some people feel that non-OEM accesories are embers from hell but I've used them in the past with great success and really didn't notice a difference in the OEM and the non-OEM.

Ebay has some GREAT package deals out of Japan and I'm just wondering if anybody has tried them.

Thanks

Would love to know the answer to this question too....mainly because we'll have 2 Epics in our house soon and to buy the phones, cases and other accessories will soon add up....so if we can save a little here and there it would help.

My husband did have a 'Made in China' battery for his old XDA several years ago and it performed just like the original battery. Absolutely no issues at all.

I've also seen a 3000mAh battery is in the works for the Epic, which would be cool.

I've been having good results with the cheap ebay batteries. Two batteries and a charger for less than $11 shipped.

yeah, those are the deals I've been finding, add a car charger, car mount, extra USB cable, case and wall charger and you won't pay more than $21, shipped

Thanks guys, just never had a samsung gadget before (always Palm) and I wanted to make sure that the non-OEM accessories were reliable

I wouldn't waste the extra money geting chargers, cables and such. Having had them in the past, I do see a difference in how well they work and how long they last. When you can get a 900ma Motorola branded charger on Amazon for $6, it makes zero sense to get a cheap generic on ebay. And be wary of cases made for the epic. They're just generics that come close to fitting and might not be perfect. Yet there are cheap cases on ebay that are even pictured with the Epic in it that can be had for not much money.

I've got a vibrant and ordered batteries on ebay from a US seller (after finding an sd card scam from China and Hong Kong, and having had bad experience previously). I can't prove anything but I would swear they are better than the OEM. The batteries themselves are simply designed for the European market (in my case, G7 vs. G9). Definitely a good purchase.

I purchased the two batteries plus the wall charger that they slide into. The one with the bright blue and red led at the bottom. I think its awesome. I haven't plugged the phone into the usb charger once since I bought the phone. You can even charge the oem battery in the charger. For 10 to 12 bucks you can't go wrong.

I see so many different batteries and chargers on ebay. Since some of you guys already bought some of these, can you post back your review of it along with a link to the item you bought??
HERE'S the one that I got; mainly because the batteries are identical to the stock battery(Samsung) I saw the others for $9-10.99 but those batteries were generic (the ones I saw @least so I myself didn't want those|but thatz not to say they aren't jus as good)...

the funny thing is all the "OEM" batteries listed on ebay are SAMSUNG branded, but they say G7 on them when the Epic battery says G9. Maybe it's just a minor difference as all the other specs and size seem to match up.

Keybeeetsss auction shows the G7 battery, but for some reason you can see "SAMSUNG" being photoshopped out.

The lone US seller with an oem battery has the proper G9. So maybe it's just a continent thing.

That being said, you can still get two batteries cheaper than what he paid. $8.99 for one battery and charger here and then a solo battery for $3.19. Almost $2 cheaper, and you can just buy the one battery and charger and see how well the battery works before you drop $3 and change on a 2nd.

Funny thing about that is that when I bought the batteries, the reasoning I bought from that particular seller was because the batteries said Samsung & looked identical, but now the pics are different as dbpaddler pointed out...

Update: After testing it for 3 days thoroughly, I am getting the same battery life as my oem battery with my ebay batteries. Paid $10.99 for them and received them in good shape within 10 days.

Best part is sine it slow charges the batteries using only 350mA current, I also consistently get 100% battery when I take any battery be it oem or non oem when full charging is done. That extra 3% itself gives me ~1 hr extra standby time.

My battery worries have finally ended since I always have a spare with 100% life in my purse. When my first battery dies around 5pm every day, I just use my fully chargedv spare to carry through the reminder of the day;-)
Just got 2 1500mAh batteries and 1 wall charger from ebay for 10.99. Item was shipped from Hong Kong and I recieved it within 10 days after paying. So far, the battery is looking good. Will check it for next 2-3 days and post my findings on battery life.

Sweet! 5:00-7:00 is about when my battery dies, too. I keep reading about people who are getting a day and a half to 24 hours on one battery and I just don't see how. While waiting for my batteries to arrive, I have played around with a couple widgets and followed some suggestions from forum members but nothing is working to extend my battery more than an hour or two. Completely discharging and recharging did give me a good 3-4 extra hours but nothing close to 24 hours.

as a data point I purchased a supposed oem g7 from ebay
" NEW G7 BATTERY + CHARGER FOR SAMSUNG i9000 Galaxy SNEW G7 BATTERY + CHARGER FOR SAMSUNG i9000 Galaxy S"

a) it is not a G7 but a counterfeit g7 label
b) battier reports "battery not connected" when charger is attached and status bar battery bar blinks red and green, even though it is charged.
c) seller "transcendershop" in hong kong will do clothing but insist I sell it back, whcih is obviously not cost effective.

I also bought two from a US based seller. these have very tiny font "for" before the word Samsung (not outright counterfeit like the hong kong, but desinged to appear in ebay pictures as real deal when they are not. They are marked 1500 mA but test to 1200 ma.
