Accessories Samsung Epic Dock Problem #483: Camera

After removing the phone from its home dock, the phone immediately goes to the Camera app or Gallery app.

Does anyone know how to stop this from happening? I'm careful to not even touch the camera button, but it still happens.

It's obvious to all Samsung Epic dock owners, we just received the beta version for full price. Thanks Samsung!!! [sarcastically]

I haven't had this happen to me but sometimes I'll brush against one of the lower icons and it will open something.

The Gallery icon is in the middle when docked. Perhaps you're hitting that accidentally? Our screens are very sensitive and I've noticed that I can select items at times just by hovering above the icon.

I made sure not to touch any buttons (soft or hard) on the phone while removing it. While in the landscape/sideways position in the dock, I held the undocked the phone with one finger on the upper left and another finger on the lower right corners of the phone, making sure not to touch or even get near any button or interface.

As for the inadvertent ring volume changes while docking/undocking, my solution was the free Android "SmartVolume" app to lock the ringer volume.

Although I was disappointed at these bugs or lack of functionality, I'm holding on to this dock in hopes a subsequent Samsung software update will fix these annoyances since I really love the idea of this dock.

Hopefully they can make it as friendly as a "Chumby" (see chumby internet radio player, digital picture frame, alarm clock - more!).

Sorry to bump this old thread, just got my epic dock today and found this thread while looking for a solution to the volume rocker + dock problem. After i checked out Chumby I noticed they now have an Android app, neato! Unfortunately it looks like it requires android 2.2, so those of us still on 2.1 holding out for 2.2 modded kernels are out of luck!
