Hi ppl.
Well, first, i bought this from a friend and it was a french network, so i took it into one of those phoneshops you find anywhere here in Portugal.

then after have done that, i normally started using it, but not i'm having real problems with it.
first, the pc doesnt recognize it in any way. just charge the battery, but no usb device is found.
Also having problems to send MMS, doesnt send at all.
and the keep it better, most part of the system seems to not be there ;x
like, options as: user settings (settings-about the phone), or menu-notifications-USB.
only one i've found was the USB debugging, which btw didn't help :T

since i've unlocked it the menu is:

Bluetooth;
Browser;
Calculator;
Calendar;
Camcorder;
Camera;
Clock;
Contacts;
Divx VOD;
Email;
Facebook;
Gallery;
Google Mail;
Java ME Apps;
Layar;
Maps;
Market;
Messaging;
Music Player;
My files;
Phone;
Settings;
Switchers;
Talk;
Video Player;
Voice Recorder;
Voice Search;
Wi-Fi;
Youtube.

that's all!
it was running Patheon, but then i installed ADWLauncher and a few more apps but nothing in special, like ASTRO a few games and Task Killer, Themes and Msn.

what is missing here?? what can i do??
i know need much more options so i can solve this problems i'm having :T

So, you bought the phone in France from someone you met there, and you want it to work in Portugal on a differrent carrier. You have no manual an no CD which would have all the necessary drivers and install software and instructions. You had it unlocked by a phone shop and it's not working.

And this is somehow all the phone's fault?

Is there a moral here?

basically i unlocked it and now works with vodafone, and yeah i don't have any of the cds and stuff that should come with it.
cause it was a "second hand" buy.
I mean, i didn't where else to unlock it, soo.

what's wrong with that?
I'm just not sure if it was supposed to be like that!
there's anything I can do? any help?

For MMS, just set up your phone properly by going:
Settings->Wireless&Networks->Mobile networks settings (you might need to scroll down to see that option)->Access point name. Then press the menu button and add new APN, I'm on Virgin in the UK so I don't know about Vodafone protugal, however a quick look at the link Beerkan posted (the big apn list) gave me this:
Code:
<apn carrier="Vodafone PT MMS" mcc="268" mnc="01" apn="vas.vodafone.pt" user="vas" password="vas" server="*" mmsc="http://mms/servlets/mms" mmsproxy="213.30.27.63" mmsport="8799" type="mms" />

So basically use those settings, leave any other settings blank

Re user settings (settings - about the phone).... I'm still unsure what you mean... what would you like to do for example? Change the ringtone?

ok. gonna try this one!

well, i've been tryin to connect the phone to PC but it doesn't work. i've tried everythin till now(i guess) but it doesn't find any device when i connect the USB, just charge. then i tried the "USB Debugging" option, did not work. there was also an option i saw here, that i should go to Settings->About the Phone-> User settings, and unmark mass storage only. but there is NO user settings when i get to about the phone.
(btw, the only way to update the phone is throught PC? cause mine says: Firmware Version: 2.1 -update1)

thanks!

Ok just to be sure, when you connect the phone via USB and are sure NPS has installed the drivers, you also still need to, when connecting the USB cable,

Menu
Notifications
USB Connceted
Mount.

If this does NOT work, then try a different USB port, unplug and re-insert USB.
If this also fails, try installing NPS on a different PC, and connecting to that.

While I accept that the Samsung USB driver is a bit crappy, it does work.

And as a final thought, be prepared to accept that the 2nd hand phone you bought, is faulty..

Hence why you got it 2nd hand.

well, and i'm not sure if NPS installed the drivers, didn't say anything during the instalation.
as i said, and that's why i typed the whole options of my menu, i don't seem to find any:

Menu:
Notifications->USB;

;T
when i first got it, i'm pretty sure it's was ok, but as i couldn't use it, i didn't look enough into it's settins and stuff, i just started caring more when i arrived and ulocked it. and i'm pretty sure there options missing ;x

OK well.... I'm not sure then sorry, like Beerkan says, try another USB port or another computer... what *should* happen is that you plug the phone in (phone on of course), then windows works its magic by detecting it and installing the drivers, the status bar of the phone is showing a USB logo (to check if you want to mount the SD card to the PC) and a warning sign as well if you have USB debugging enabled.

well, i have the USB debuggin turned on, and i've just changed between all usb ports here, again, the computer found nothin and there's no action on the phone, i mean, just start chargin o.o there's no USB sign, and no ask for connection. can it be the cable?
i mean, as i bought it 2nd handed, i did't get the CD's it came with, and totally lost the cable, so i bought one but was on chinese shop (they have everythin) soo, could be it? should i buy a REAL samsung cable?

I bought i new cable and the computer already finds it.. BUT, keeps appearing on the phone a message for me to Turn of "USB storage".
I still can't find the "User Settings" options so i can check/uncheck Mass Storage Only. there's any other way?
i mean, i guess that's the only thing it's missing for this to work fine.
