Ok first of all I am now on my second LG Ally contemplating going to my third, the first one had a few minor glitches and then the ear piece went out and I was forced to update to an even bigger POS. If you are responding to a question please note the number to which question you are reffering to. Remember you dont have to answer them all just an answer to 1 would be more help than i have right now

1. I heard all new Allys being released right now have Froyo (Android 2.2), is that true? And does any old Ally user that recently switched notice any fixes in the glitches?
2. My phone has a touch screen with a mind of its own, ill touch to call somebody at the top and it will call somebody at the bottom, and i know for a fact im not being clumsy its definately the phone, and the screen is not dirty.
3. No matter what i do i have terrible battery life with the 50% bug. On my first Ally i turned it off for 4 hours and it fixed it but this one i have done several different time frames and still cell standby.
4. My phone restarts anytime i try to use anything other than browser, call, or text. Mostly paper toss (which is the only "game" i have), the google navigator (but not maps), and my gallery. There is probably more but i rarely ever use them.
5. The back-up assistant is stuck at 508 contacts while my g-mail account says i have 536, im scared of transferring phones again because i dont want to lost alot of numbers like i did when i went from the versa to the ally, then from the broken ally to the even more jacked up ally
6. This is merely just a fact: the new city id software with the recent update is always at least 15 miles off and a complete waste of my already under spaced phone!
7. Sometimes when i save somebody under a completely different name it merges them with an already existing contact with a different name, the most recent was when i tried to add Cathy and it put her into Katie, and yes i spelled those right and they were completely different numbers with completely different area codes.
8. Also if i do get a new Ally how do i go about not losing any contacts?

Most likely i forgot some of the issues so if you have an additional one feel free to add below, but remember to start off at #9 or the next number in line so there is no confusion. Im sorry for spelling or grammer, its 2:30 in the morning and im tired.

1. I don't think its true.

2.Has happened to me recently, I don't know any fixes.

3.Try the airplane trick. Plug your phone into your charger put it airplane mode let go to sleep black screen, wake it up unplug take it out of airplane mode.

4.Don't really have this problem can't help sorry.

5.As long as your contacts are synced to your Gmail account you'll have your contacts.

6.Don't use City ID can't help there either sorry.

7.I have no idea, sorry.

8.Refer back to #5.

1. Not true. IF anything new Ally's will be shipped with the latest update. Update ZVB as its called around here.

2. My phone used to do this on the v8 stock rom. Never happened since i flashed the velocity custom rom.

3. If none of the fixes in the 50% bug thread help consider flashing the Turbo JIT + OC kernel and/or velocity and see if you get more battery life.

4. My phone used to do this when i pushed it to the limits but that dosen't sound like your case.

5. As far as im aware your contacts auto sync with gamil (if you have the auto sync option enabled) So if you were to get another android phone they would be imported to your new phone when you sign in on your account on your phone. A second option you can do is. In the contacts menu press menu and there's an "Import/Export" option to SD card. Back-up assistant is just horrible imo and i quickly removed it.

6. Never used it quickly removed it.

7. Have no idea.

8. As i said before your contacts "should" sync with your google account and there's the option to Export them to your SD card then move the file to your new Ally's SD card and Import them to the new phone.

Guys, before you post something please read the entire article stated in the LG Forum that was linked above. Its clearly states that it is NOT Froyo 2.2 and it is just another firmware update.

This version (VS740ZVB) **Previous version is VS740ZV8** began OTA on 9/17/2010 and was available for push (LGPST) in stores on 9/22/2010.

This update release did the following:

-When user opens or saves an email (POP3/IMAP) attachment, the attachment isn't executed.
-Added preload applications: City ID, Skype, My Verizon, Corporate Directory
-Updated existing preloaded applications: Backup Assistant
-Bluetooth stack loses pairing information when there are more than 9 devices paired with the phone.
-Camera performance improvement.
-In some cases, the E-mail application closes unexpectedly when opening an email item on an Exchange account.
-In some cases, E-mail attachments are not displayed.
-A PC cannot recognize the phone when tethered, even if the USB driver is installed correctly
-In some rare cases, random applications are launched when typing with QWERTY keyboard.
-Gallery application was optimized to improve the speed and efficiency when opening the application.
-Android operating system security enhancements.
-Improvements for battery life.
-In some cases, device randomly freezes when pressing Home key multiple times during application launch.
-LG Ally devices are experiencing SMS delays if homed on ALLTEL SMSCs.
-Backup My Settings menu is removed.
-Power up sound is not played when powering on when device is in Silent/Vibrate mode.
-Improved wired headset insertion/removal detection reliability.
-In some cases, the device may randomly reboot.
-In some cases, the device randomly freezes when user starts typing text and waits for longer than a couple of minutes.

Warranty replacements and new LG Allys began shipping from the distribution centers last week.

Again, this is NOT Froyo 2.2

Well that might be the truth, but since every single Ally ever produced has something wrong with it that could be a tactic to keep customers from flocking in returning their 2.1 phones for 2.2. Ill find out tomorow for sure cause i cant take this phone malfunctioning anytime i was to use any of the features on it anymore

What are you talking about? Every single Ally ever produced? Do you have actual facts showing this?? If so, please link us.

And as far as customers flocking in? What customers are flocking in? Did i miss some sort of recall of LG Allys?

This phone may be a bit buggy, but it is still fairly low on the return percentage list.

And google doesnt release Froyo 2.2 based on "tactics" to prevent returns. This doesnt even make sense.

I don't have an answer to any questions just sympathy. I'm ready to chuck my ally against a wall since getting this new update. I have to use my app killer every 10 minutes because stupid crap keeps running and killing my battery worse than before. And now its taking forever to type this off my phone because my keypad is lagging something fierce I'm a whole 2 sentances ahead of what is being typed out. Wth! I hate htc and motorola but I'm seriously considering buying an incredible before my upgrade in december. I loved this phone when I first got it but go figure the day after I lapsed my worry free guarentee it popped up problem after problem. My faith in lg is rapidly fading!!!

I meant to type practically every*, since on almost every message board i read people who just get their first Ally love it until they realize that it has glitches, did you actually read the statement i made before you came up with your rebuttal? I didnt say the release of froyo was a tactic to prevent returns i said them telling you that the new phones do not have 2.2 could be something LG is doing to PREVENT PEOPLE FROM flocking in to get froyo phones since they are tired of waiting for the upgrade. If you didnt comprehend what i said that time please ask and i will try to put it in more laymen terms.

It is not a matter of me comprehending. I read the words that you type and want to ensure that other readers are getting the facts. It is as simple as that.

I am in no way trying to offend or come across as "attacking"

My message or "rebuttal" is not directed at you personally my friend, it is directed at what is fact and what isnt fact. Nothing more, nothing less.

This all boils down to one thing. Are the LG Allys shipping with Froyo 2.2. The answer is absolutely not.
