Root Root and Update?

Does anybody know if you root will you still get the 2.2 update when it's released? I did root originally but decided to unroot because without 2.2 I can't do what I want anyway and I don't want to miss 2.2. Now if there were some cool custom ROM's it might be different......

Rooting your phone should not affect any updates. Now, a custom ROM with a custom recovery will block some OTA updates.

Keep in mind, no official timeframe has been given for us Fascinate users on 2.2. Could be late October, or it could be close to Christmas. We dont have the official word yet.

Personally, im staying rooted. ROM developers will soon be releasing some goodies for us and by the time Froyo finally rolls out, there will be a very easy "unroot" option for us.

I just might.
I mean I totally get it about people either afraid to or unwilling to root/do anything "next level". Its truly like anything in life where the anxiety is 90% of the stress and the actual doing is much less than anticipated.
The analogy I like to use is from the PC market. Some people, actually, many and most people, like to buy a pre-made HP or Dell or whatever, use their PC for their needs and they are perfectly happy. More power to them. However, some of us, like to buy the parts at newegg for half the cost of the HP, OC the sucker by 50% and tweak out the BIOS et al. Granted we are the minority [the OCers] just as the overwhelming majority of android smartphones out there are not rooted.
The intriguing aspect is when the contented HP owner cries out how do I OC. Or, and Im speaking generally here not to the OP or any specific individual, the Android user wants to dip his toe in the pool of root. Then as an esoteric insider I try and simultaneously be helpful and supportive, while also enabling the new user to develop that confidence and sense of mastery which only comes by doing.

Thank you all - maybe I will go back to root. If I rename the bloatware, will that block OTA updates? And no I'm not afraid of root, I just want to make sure I get 2.2 - after having it on my Eris I really miss it!

You just need to re-rename or un-name it and return to stock. Root alone does not block OTA updates
