This is a better device than the Iphone 3 Gs or 4

It's not even a discussion.

The KB on the X is by far the best most intuitive KB on the market.

The Screen is perfect, the CQ is amazing, the speed, the network you name it.

The X beats the Iphone in every category except the design. The Iphone is a better fit in your hand, however the X gives you a bigger field of play.

And Verizon or ATT? it's a no brainer. ATT is the worst sounding network in America.

i have been on AT&T for several years with the iphone 3G then 3Gs, then i had the iPhone 4 for a few days. day 3 or 4 of owning the iPhone 4 i was given the opportunity to test out the HTC evo for my company. stuck with it for a month then had a new opportunity to get the Droid X. i am still with the X and think i will be for a while. runs very smooth and like you said, more field to play on. camera button is sweet.

as for service, i HATE AT&T customer service, dropping calls with the iPhone is more iPhone related and not so much AT&T's network. yes their network is conjected, but i think the dropping calls is 80% iPhones fault. as for speed AT&T is the fastest. switched to Sprint and the speed is ok, signal sucked/ now on verizon, where i was before the iPhone.. much better customer support (have no needed it yet, but this goes without saying). the speeds seem kind of pathetic though. i have to wait forever to load a page on the DX. my 3G signal isnt bad, mostly 2 or 3 bars. Wifi at work cause we have no service in this building. but "testing" the DX i ordered a signal booster for the office :) and i get 1X all day. but atleast i dont miss a bunch of calls ya know?

anyways, figured i would donate my thoughts on your topic.

i don't mean to be a party pooper, but i kinda disagree with OP's statement.

I still feel that the iPhone4 is better than the Droid X in terms of first 'out of box' experience. As long as Verizon/Motorola continue to push bloatware on their devices and gimp on the full Google experience, the iPhone4 prevails.

If you think about it, most of us Droid X owners have had to do some tweaks before having it run smooth. This is an issue for mainstream users. People like us, theres no question that Android 2.2 devices would prevail as its highly customizable. But for the average joe, the iPhone4 is still king.

that being said, i still prefer Verizon as the carrier of choice as the voice quality / coverage is excellent.

Personally, I think saying one phone is "hands down better than another", its an "iPhone killer", or what-have-you is a silly argument. A lot of what we like (or dont like) about a phone is subjective. Whats important to me and you is always going to be different. And nothing in technology stays the same. 5 years from now, Android OR iOs could become the most bloated thing on the planet (Well, Microsoft will never give up that title LOL)

Heck, even the argument over phone co customer service is subjective, its about the people you connect with. They cant ALL be good or bad.

For instance, the Android system is customizable, but its just not as "smooth" as iOs, no matter how you skin it. Why does Droid need a UI whereas iOs provides this? Why isn't the iOS UI more customizable? This list could go on and on and on.

The Android support for Exchange sucks right now, and no, I don't want to spend 20 bucks for an email app.

Apple does something very well, and they make quality hardware. Android likewise has a great future ahead of them, provided they keep their eyes on the prize (performance and feature-set opportunities). Im looking forward to seeing what happens with both phone lines since they feed off each other.

For the record, I've never owned an iPhone, and dont particulary care for the form factor of the Iphone 4. I do own an iPod Touch and I love the thing. I have a droid X on order right now. I didnt buy it necessarily because I LOVED it, but liked it better than the other choices.

You can always get a nice "case" fo Dx to have a better grip. I know i did, even with the side stand. :D

I don't know, it's hard to compare the two since the functions are so completely different. They're both top notch devices and I can't really say one is so much "better" than the other. It all depends on what you're using each for. As far as ATT being the "worst" sounding network - we can get a clear connection in the underground parking garage with the iPhone. Never drop a call.

Um, how are the functions different? Seems to me they're functions are absolutely identical. They're smartphones.

Sure, they are both smartphones but their end users have different needs.
Though some apps are the same, many are not between iTunes and Market. iPhone is out of box and its users prefer that. Most Android users want to full customization. iPhone has video conferencing. X does not ...and their users had no need for it to being with.

Two devices that are not similar enough to compare, lol

LOL again, the X is the Superior device. Here's why Verizon vs ATT. ATT ruined the Iphone , ruined it. The Call Quai is brutal, the drop call rate is astronomical. Yes the phone is nice , no doubt and if on Verizon would be a great phone, however it still wouldn't be as good as the X.
The X is faster, it's bigger and the Keyboard is better.
And the closer is Google. Free Voice Nav, turn by turn directions you can't get on the Iphone.

For the record the X is not faster, but it is bigger. Mapquest provides free voice navigation for the iPhone so pick your poison, but there is no clear kill here..... I personally prefer the Captivate or Incredible for their more reasonable size.

I actually carry multiple phones for work as part of my job and AT&T generally has better call quality and network speeds IMO though Verizon has better coverage in my area. AT&T has issues in some areas, but don't believe everything you read because there are areas where Verizon is just as bad or worse.

I think the iphone has its own share of bloatware...just from apple...itunes come to mind (not talking about the app store), and it took a jailbreak to take it off my old iphone. Same deal.

You didn't just try and tell us that ATT com pares to VZW did you? :thinking:I had ATT for years, it's pathetic.

I didn't have to tweak my iPhone 3Gs to get it to run smoothly, but didn't really have to on my DX either. What I DID have to do with my 3Gs was jailbreak it to get it to do what I wanted, which is a time-consuming process, while I was able to do the same kind of thing out of the box with my DX. I do NOT miss my iPhone at all, and I still have it. Only thing I want for my DX is an alarm clock dock, but the Motorola one doesn't work with the Body Glove case on it, so right now, my iPhone is basically used as an alarm clock and sleep sound generator. When I do pick it up do do something with it, I don't get how I lived with such a tiny little screen for so long! It does feel good to hold, though. But a little thinner/lighter case than the Body Glove one would fix most of that. Using an Incase Slider on the 3Gs (fits in the JVC dock with it on), hard plastic with a rubberized coating.

When you buy a high end TV - you get it Calibrated .... there's nothing wrong with adjusting things to get it right...

Very true. However, most people dont realize that their tv is that crappy to begin with. To them, they think a calibration is a gimmick, when in reality, they have no clue what they are missing. Same with smartphones. They dont realize they can make their smartphones "smarter" with a little work.
