Just wanted to take a minute real quick to express how happy I am with my purchase of the Droid X extended battery. I got because I was making it about 80% through my day before having to give it a little juice, unless I used it sparingly.

Now with this, I make it morning to night easy no matter my use. And, I use my phone heavily.

I thought though, I wonder how long this would last if I used it only as much as I needed (well, what *I* consider need, heh) and left out all the non-essential stuff.

I took it off the charger at 5:30am Monday. I'm at 15% now. I will at the very least make it till 5:30pm today, making it 84 hours. I may make it till I crash. (I'm going to it blinks red).

15%
Uptime: 143:41
Since last hooked to charger: 3d 10h 26min (Mon 5:30am - now)
Battery Mode: Nighttime Saver
Battery: BH6X from local store.

I have used my phone for everything I have needed. Every day. Plenty of texting, gTalking, and phone calls. Especially yesterday (found out we're having a boy!). I've read email, both gmail and my work email through the browser. I've checked up on sites (cough here) when I had to, but that was only a couple times. I've used the camera and sent several pictures. Plus other stuff, but this is what I do regularly. Every day.

I have NOT browsed the web for the sake of browsing, been on youtube, streamed music or spent any time in the market (have updated apps though). No Maps, Nav, etc. I have not.. just hung out on my phone.. like I tend to do.

I've not killed any tasks or background stuff.

I've used it as much as I've wanted with what I mentioned above, being careful to quickly turn off the screen as soon and as often as I could, and leaving brightness on low.

This wasn't a "how long I can go" test, it was a "how long will it last with me just using it for what I need to use it for" test. I would have been happy to make it to the end of Tuesday, and here it is the end of the workday on a Thursday.

That coupled with the fact that the battery is hardly ANY bigger at all - I'm very happy with the purchase and felt the urge to share.

Also, I love my X.

Sorry for the rushed and all over the place post, kinda in a hurry.
:)

Edit: After the first reply I checked display time. Display usage is an hour and a half. So, clearly the Phone Idle and Cell Standby dominated that one.

I wonder how long I could go with straight display time. Sounds like my next test!

For those who haven't seen the size, as you can see it's not a big deal.

Still fits into the media dock, as well.

Side note: Still going, at 5% - going to plug in soon. Finally! :p

First picture I had seen of the extended battery, thanks for posting that. Now I'm going to have to pick one up, I thought it was bigger than that.

I haven't seen a need for one personally. As of this post, I'm at 20h 25m with 2h 39m of display time on. And I'm still showing at 40%. I can easily go well over a day with the stock battery, sometimes closer to 2 days with the way I use it. I could have used an extended battery for my iPhone 3Gs, but there was no extended battery available, and it would have been way harder to install. Loving the way this phone uses battery.

I am about the same as phases, I make it through about 80% of my day, but if I use it sparingly I can make it a couple days. I stream Slacker a lot and do more than an average amount of web surfing on my X. I am usually close to a charger so I didn't care but with so little a difference in size I figured I might as well buy one for my long nights at work after being away from home all day.

I just ordered mine, looking forward to seeing my results!

The funny thing about the extended battery is that while it is only 20% bigger than the stock battery (and I know you can't cheat physics), it seems to give you a LOT more than a 20% boost in performance.

When I bought my DX I was utterly disgusted with the stock batteries performance. I don't know if I just got a lemmon or what, but I couldn't make it more than 4 - 5 hours before it was screaming at me to plug it back in. One morning I got up, took it off the charger, played one game of RoboDefense, and when I was done my battery meter read "60%"... WTF????

So even though I haven't done any technical experiements to prove that the extended battery lasts longer than 20% beyond that of the stocker, by all means my 'seat of the pants' assessment puts it closer to a twice the performance of the stock battery... even though I know that's just not possible. And as for the weight, it really does hardly anything to the look and feel of the phone, but if anything, I think it actually feels better with the extended battery (and door) on the phone.

Let's put it this way, I have yet to see or hear anyone who's upgraded their battery complain about the extended battery or go back to the stock one (that's not to say it hasn't happened, just that I haven't seen or heard about it if they did).

I like how everyone says "kudos" to you and the rest of us that get 3+ days with light use get mocked about "nice paperweight" or something similar.

My Android OS and Android System are double yours (the rest is similar) and I think they're why I can't get a 4th day out of my extended battery.

Saw this in another site and thought you guys could help with the question...

My question is the use of the back cover. There's a speical cover that came with it and I noticed something that is bugging me.

The STD cover states, "Only use Motorola BH5X battery with this cover".

The extended cover states, "Only use Motorola BH6X battery with this cover".

When looking at the back of the X and at the cover, i noticed a little pressure point (switch) that is being pressed with the BH5X cover and not the BH6X cover. Located upper left under the battery cover.

The cover on the BH5X has a little scratch where it engages with the pressure point. Any ideas what it is?
