i'm getting a epic tomorrow and I wanted to know before i kick out 230 bucks if its worth updating? here is the problems i have with my moment:

1. every time i send a text it freezes for a second or is really slow

2. keeps freezing up and have to remove the battery

3. data lock

4. slow going app to app

5. i'm not getting my picture mail really. I only get it some times. it won't show up on my phone but i can go on the sprint web site and they are there.

I switched from a Moment to the Epic. I didn't have a terrible experience with the Moment, but the Epic blows it out of the water. No comparison.

1. every time i send a text it freezes for a second or is really slow.
Nope, no issue there on the Epic, but I never had that issue on my Moment either.

2. keeps freezing up and have to remove the battery
Nope, no lockups or anything like this. I didn't have this problem on my Moment either.

3. data lock
I did occasionally have this issue on my Moment if I had been using WiFi. The Epic does not suffer from this. The data connection has been very stable.

4. slow going app to app.
The Epic absolutely screams compared to the moment. It's simply a totally different class of phone in that respect.

5. i'm not getting my picture mail really. I only get it some times. it won't show up on my phone but i can go on the sprint web site and they are there.
I haven't tried to use picture mail, so I can't speak to this.

Also, the GPS on the moment sucked. The GPS on the Epic has yet to fail me, and I've had it since the first week it was available.

I really hope this thread grows in the next 7 days because i'm thinking about getting the Epic next Wednesday and giving my Moment to my Nephew (who currently has T-Mobile and seriously needs to get into the Any Mobile Any Time gig because im sick of only being able to call him after 9 on weekdays).

Me personally. I got my Moment back in April and I really have nothing bad to say about the phone. I've only dropped it once and its still kicking. The speeds are slow here in Shreveport but thats because we're still on 1xRTT (supposed to finally be getting EVDO in October) but thats no biggie because I have no problem connecting my phone to my Wifi network in my home. :D

Yeah the battery life is a fool, but thats expected. My battery lasts longer than my coworker who has a Hero so I really dont complain all that much. I just always carry around my USB cable to solve that issue.

I'm one of the lucky ones (at times) who works for Sprint (Advance Tech Support to be exact - So im sure a few of you have probably talked to me if you've ever called us.) so I was one of the first to know they were about to release the Epic. And before it was launched, we got to play around with them and I was hooked. The phone has everything I need and much more and i'm so excited. I just hope I dont get one of those buggy phones.

Me personally, I dont really have a problem with the extra $10 a month. Both the Epic and the Evo are PREMIUM devices which can do things that our other devices cant do. The processors are MUCH faster than our other phones, and you can VIDEO CHAT with Qik (if it works - and please dont call us if it doesnt, remember, we work for Sprint - Not Qik, Facebook, Youtube, Amazon, Handcent or any other 3rd party application.) and much much more... Entirelly too much to type. If you want to know the difference. Grab a Moment and an Epic and see the difference for yourself.

---Sorry if my rant got a little long, but i'm at work trying to make this night go by as quick as possible. :)

You Sprint guys swallow the company line hook line and sinker, huh? I had a conversation with another rep and he said what you did almost word for word. I mean no disrespect, you may truly believe this. My opinion? Sprint has 2 hot phones and is trying to extract as much money out of them as they possibly can. Sprint is trying to stealthily move itself into line price wise with at&t and Verizon. This way, they can keep advertising their cheaper "everything" plan, conveniently forgetting to mention that the monthly price is really $10 more for the phones you really want. Pure additional profit, nothing more. Every new generational device does more than its predecessor. Traditionally with high tech, the prices go down even as capability progresses. The cell phone providers are trying to buck that trend with additional fees and tiered data pricing. But that's just my opinion.

Well... If you google the extra $10 fee, there are plenty of sites that explain the extra $10 a month. I'm not here to sell the device, I just troubleshoot them. The real problem comes when the people at Best Buy tell customers that the $10 takes care of them being able to use the hotspot. WRONG! Then when they call us, they want to call us every name in the book because Joe at Best Buy told them a lie. To be honest, at times I really hate my job because we're constantly having to pick up the slack of these authorized dealers and I really dont think its fair, but hey... it pays the bills.

Seddy, you need to take a vacation! The fact that you even had to ask this makes me think that you need a break from all the dipsticks that calling in and driving you crazy. I thought expecting braces for my first born kid's teeth from Sprint made that comment obvious sarcasm.

Lolz. You are so right. I'm taking a vacation day tomorrow because I honestly need 4 consecutive days to myself to relax without wanting to scream everytime the phone rings... I just had a customer trying to use a USB connection card on a wireless printer.
