problems with PSP

whats up fellas,
i've been downloading a bunch of original PSone games from the playstation store onto my PSP to play at work. Frequently when I'm playing, the "quit game" screen will pop up out of nowhere ("are you sure you want to quit?") it usually does it at a certain point in the game. For instance: when I'm playing Crash Team Racing it does it at the finish line when I'm starting the final lap. On coolboarders 3 it does it everytime i go up a certain ramp, or in air after a jump. but almost always in the same spot. anybody have any ideas why this would be happening? I really dont want to do a warranty replacement considering i only bought it a month ago and don't want a refurb. It's a PSP 3001....

i've posted this on the playstation forum, but the only reply I got was someone harassing me about my gamertag... so i'm hoping my beloved androidforums will be a little more helpful!

Sorry about that... I have nothing useful for you... I have a little baby memory card in my PEP... Got it modded and now I'm scared to take out the battery OR the card for fear of losing it! lol I should have waited to get a bigger memory card!

Is your 3001 factory, or modded?

My PSP was doing that to me too... turns out it had buttons sticking... yours is very new though, so Im not sure. Mine was old enough not to worry about the warranty so I took it apart and cleaned up all the bits and parts, and its still working. Its one of the original's (1000), I imported it from Japan in white, lol

Is the message the same one that pops up when you press the Home button? If so, I'd guess that that button sensor is being hyper-sensitive. Maybe it happens at the same point in the race because you're trying to turn a sharp right corner, and are applying pressure in the lower-right D-pad direction, nearest to the Home button.

If you're willing to forgo your warranty, it's not a real complicated job to take off the faceplate and reseat the buttons. If not, maybe you can work something out with Sony. That, or just be gentler on the controls.

If it's not the physical button, I'm not sure what to say. Since it's a 3000 series, you're not gonna get CFW on it easily. If you do figure out a way to do that, you'd be able to try different POPS versions to see if the bug still occurs.

i don't think i could be hitting the button because it actually does it on almost every race in the crash bandicoot game, and on coolboarders it will do it even if im not pressing any buttons... im beginning to think it might have somethin to do with my memory stick, but not sure. I supposed i could always call tech support and see if its a known issue...

on another note... does anyone know why none of the tony hawk's pro skater games are available for download? those were my favorite

Pssh... cell phone forum... this is generalized geek forum! I'm proud to call myself a member here!

Also, I think the skater games aren't available because of buttons (analogue sticks in particular) not porting over correctly...
