I found out the reason I and others are needing to exchange their EPICs

Every phone has a bunch of manufacturing issues. Evo had separating glass, cracked charger ports and cracked power buttons, screen "wash outs"... Hero had... Moment had... E71 had....

The phone is just poorly manufactured. This is to be expected of Samsung.
I'm considering whether I should ditch the EPIC altogether and go back to the EVO.

Given the trollish tone of your post, I checked your history to see if you were legit. I think you are in fact legit. I came across the post in which you talked about yourself and gave your smartphone history. I see no reason to disbelieve what you wrote.

That said, what's the point of coming to a Samsung user's thread to condemn the Epic as terminally shoddy? Why be so mean-spirited as to try to disillusion people who are locked into a contract for the next two years? How would you feel if you decided to keep the Epic and other people began posting that your phone was worthless on that same phone's user forum?

Isn't your real problem with Samsung and Sprint, not people who happen to post on this thread? If so, then shouldn't you be directing your venom at them, not us?

Besides which:

You've never believed Sprint or Radio Shack salespeople in the past. It's interesting that you now decide to believe the one sweeping generalization (out of hundreds made by salespeople!) that supports your decision.

How many truthful things have salespeople said to anyone on Android Forums? Why should anyone here believe your salesperson just because you want us to?

I came to this conclusion when I asked an employee at Radio Shack why none of the 5 different EPICs I've owned over the course of 1 month were had either cosmetic or software defects, and the employee told me that they are all like that. They're made that way!

you...are...believeing....a....RADIO SHACK EMPLOYEE?

wow. just wow.

i gave a little respect to your initial post, and replied in kind. but with your last one, any respect i had is out the window now.

a Radio Shack employee....wow.

I didn't take his word for it. He brought an EPIC from their stock room and proved his claim to me.

One Epic from their stock room proved that all Epics are made the same way?

I can just about guess what your answer will be. If it's what I'm thinking, you'll have lost total credibility with me, so I hope you're not going to tell us that he opened the package of a brand new Epic on the theory it would be defective because all are defective and . . . presto! Because Radio Shack employees aren't going to do that for a number of reasons.

You're beginning to make me doubt the user profile you posted -- particularly since the majority of your posts from that time on have been Evo/Epic comparisons trashing the Epic.

That one and the 5 that I've owned over the course of the past month.

you have yet to address the rest of us that have them that have had no problems.

Not everyone is going to have problems. But I'm not the only member who has posted about problems with the EPIC.

Quick question. How did you own 5 of them? Sprint asks you to try another phone and pretty much in 99% of cases won't let you try a 4th phone of the same kind, so yeah..

Sounds like your being dishonest.

I didn't buy mine from Sprint.

but Samsung makes them ALL that way, as proven to you by the Radio Shack employee.

Also, what one person considers a problem, other people do not. Not everyone cares that their new phone's cosmetic appearance is perfect or at least nearly so. Some people don't use the GPS feature so the bugs there don't bother them. And some people don't upload data over 3G, because they either have 4G in their area, upload over Wi-Fi, or just don't upload at all. I also learned that 5% of EPICs had issues with the phone recognizing when the battery is fully charged, or the fact that the battery is even inserted in the device.

I didn't exchange my current EPIC because it's not Radio Shack's fault. It's the manufacturer who is at fault.

so are they all made like that by Samsung, or not? you need to pick a side. now you're just floundering.

we all know of the GPS and upload problems. those are accepted currently as fixable.

when you find the PERFECT phone(the EVO wasn't one), please let us all know. thanks in advance.

I owned the EVO, and had NO problems with it whatsoever. Yes they are all made like that by Samsung, but not everyone cares that their phones have signs of wear when purchased as new. Perhaps I'm just someone who is anal about things like that, but given how much money I payed for the device and how much I'll be paying over the next 2 years for service, I have the right to be.

I personally believe that the EPIC is superior to the EVO feature-wise in most regards, and will be so in almost every regard when it gets updated to FroYo. Sure the EVO has a better UI. And it has that kickstand and can tether to more devices, but those features really only serve certain niches of users. If only I could find one that is in an acceptable physical condition by my standards, I would be happy. I know I can be anal about a device's physical condition, but I don't think I'm that bad about it seeing that I've never had any complaints with my EVO.

good luck with the Evo, it's not a bad phone. Just dont think every Epic is bad. maybe your Radio Shack got a bad batch. I have a launch day Epic that didnt look used, 2 friends also got Epics in week one and haven't had issues. its honestly the best phone ive ever had, maybe not as smooth and polished as iOS but a lot more fun and certainly the best Android phone currently out there.
