Root Motorola Droid Force Close Major Issue/Top Bar Text Color Change (Rooted/Froyo)

I have a similar issue with my droid (milestone/droid1) practically every app on my phone force closes.

google maps force closes along with launcher pro and more. only a few apps dont force close such as andronotes, astro file manager, messaging and calls and surprisingly a few games such as angry birds.

my phone is currently rooted running 2.2 (froyo) and i never got to add any roms to my phone due to my phone and/or computer not recognising the files or i may have done something wrong. the only addition to my phone aside from rooting that i have done was install a theme to the top bar of my pull down via metamorph and i dont know how to change the text on top (clock and notifications) to white.

i have ran a restore to factory defaults but that had no change, all it managed to do was simply reboot my phone. and i rebooted into safe mode and uninstalled launcher pro to avoid the force close loop.

before that took place i also had my clock widgets and beautiful widgets not loading (which was the start of it) at which i did not do anything but turn on my screen and look at the time on my phone and watched the widget just cut out and say "problem loading widget"

now every clock widget i put up does not load, almost all apps and new apps i download end up force closing or if they keep starting up, ends up in a force close loop.

I'm not sure what else to do to fix all the force closes i feel theres possibly a a corrupted file on my phone that is causing all of this. ultimately once i get the force closing issues taken care of, can someone possibly help me fix the text in the top bar to white as well? that's assuming the phone is salvagable after this force close problem.

I'd greatly appreciate any help/advice/tips i can get, thanks

Try using ROM Manager (I highly suggest the paid version) and run Fix Permissions. This has gotten rid of more than 99.9% of any force close that I have ever had! I've only had one FC since I rooted and ran fix permissions. The one FC I had was for a new app installed after I ran Fix Permissions and since I ran it again, I haven't had a FC with that app either.

Thanks for the idea Kratos, unfortunately, ROM Manager force closes on me also, i'm not sure how i would get it to work. Could it be possible that i could have a file on my phone or sd card that could be corrupt and causing a problem? it seems to be causing more problems as time passes

If you have any additional ideas it would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Have you tried re-flashing the ROM? You don't have to wipe data and cache the first time. If it doesn't work the first time, try again wiping data and cache the second time.

If those don't work, your phone may not like the ROM you are using.

i'm not sure i'm familiar with how to flash the rom without particular apps, i'll give it a shot if you can provide me with a step by step instruction how to flash the rom, because i'm pretty clueless with some things, i follow instructions better than experimenting haha, thanks for your help and hopefully this idea will work.

my droid is still having issues with apps force closing and some widgets aren't loading. i spoke to my brother about the issues and he believes i might have a virus, although unfortunately, in any event that i might have a virus i cant get a virus scanner (ie: lookout) because alot of specific apps dont show up in the market for me)

here are some of my apps that force close on me: advanced task killer, appbrain, barcode scanner, busybox installer, google maps, metamorph, log manager and rom manager

although i can open Astro file manager and i can open stupid apps like: soundboards, most games, messaging, market (but cant find alot of apps on the market) shazam, emulators, my verizon mobile and wireless tether (for rooted phones)

i'm not sure if there's anything in common with the apps that are force closing as opposed to the other apps. also i'm not sure if it's possible to get a virus on my droid, i also tried to get a log manager but that also force closed.

i've also taken my sd card out in any case that i could have a virus and if it was on my sd card, but the problem persisted. if anyone has any suggestions on what to do, please help me out if you can

if you think i would be better off just getting a new phone then i'll do what i need to but if i can salvage my phone i'd like to try all my options before i resort to laying out the money for a new phone.

thanks in advance and i appreciate all the help

There are a ton of things that you can do with a rooted phone. There are many different ROMs available and almost all of them have themes. You can use Wireless Tether for Root Users to tether different devices over WIFI. Titanium Backup is great for backing up all your apps, data, and settings (including phone settings such as WIFI networks, ringtone and notification settings, etc). You can flask different kernels and use SetCPU to overclock and or underclock your phone.
